A progressive increase in salinity and marine influence, related to local subsidence characterize the evolution of the lagoon of Cabanes Torreblanca. Relative sea level rise, caused saltwater intrusion and landward migration of the barrier. This barrier is recessive (60-20 m in the last 50 years) and its current processes show a sedimentary deficit that can lead to rapid and irreversible changes. The information shown by this research can help to achieve a sustainable management.

The article concerns potential harmful effects of exposure to lead. Although the occurrence of severe lead poisoning has receded in several countries, occupational exposure resulting in moderate and clinically symptomatic toxicity is still common. An earlier and precise characterization of an individual response is obligatory in order to assess the possible risks for human health. Biomarkers may fill important gaps in the path from exposure to a disease. Abstract The structures of the disordered 1D (pseudo-)perovskites of general TMSO(Pb x Bi y )I3 formulation [TMSO = (CH3)3SO+], obtained by doping the TMSOPbI3 species with Bi3+ ions, are investigated through the formulation of a statistical model of correlated disorder, which addresses the sequences of differently occupied BI6 face-sharing octahedra (B = Pb, Bi or vacant site) within ideally infinite [(BI3)−] n chains. The x-ray diffraction patterns simulated on the basis of the model are matched to the experimental traces, which show many broad peaks with awkward (nearly trapezoidal) shapes, under the assumption that the charge balance is fully accomplished within each chain. Located close to the town of Iglesias, the San Giorgio area constitutes a dramatic example of an area affected by intense mine pollution.
