FORMATION OF TEACHERS’ COMPETENCES IN FURTHER EDUCATION

2019

The interest of contemporary society in improving the quality of education is mainly reflected in the issue of educational results - competences - and their provision in the learning process. Introducing the 21st Century educational standards, the development of competencies required for teaching become more relevant.  International documents indicate that a teacher should have the ability to teach, effectively use technologies in learning, help students gain transversal competencies. The teacher should be able to participate in research, use innovation, reflect on his/her work, collaborate with colleagues and parents. It is the teacher’s duty to direct the student's individual development.…

Self-Efficacy and Resilience: Mediating Mechanisms in the Relationship Between the Transformational Leadership Dimensions and Well-Being

2019

The objective of this article is to test the roles of self-efficacy and resilience as consecutive mediators in the relationship between the four dimensions of transformational leadership and well-being (operationalized as psychosomatic complaints and psychological distress). The sample consists of 225 social services employees in Spain. Data were gathered at two time points with a time-lag of 6 months. We used path analysis to test the hypothesized model and Monte Carlo confidence intervals to check the significance of the indirect effects. Our results showed that only two of the four transformational leadership dimensions have a direct impact on self-efficacy: inspirational motivation and…

Linking transformational leadership to nurses’ extra-role performance: the mediating role of self-efficacy and work engagement

2011

salanova m., lorente l., chambel m.j. & martinez i.m. (2011) Linking transformational leadership to nurses’ extra-role performance: the mediating role of self-efficacy and work engagement. Journal of Advanced Nursing 67(9), 2256–2266. Abstract Aims.  This paper is a report of a social cognitive theory-guided study about the link between supervisors’ transformational leadership and staff nurses’ extra-role performance as mediated by nurse self-efficacy and work engagement. Background.  Past research has acknowledged the positive influence that transformational leaders have on employee (extra-role) performance. However, less is known about the psychological mechanisms that may explain the lin…

Rewards, changes and challenges in the role of primary headteachers/principals in England and Finland

2012

Drawing on an analysis of education policies and qualitative research data, the impact of education reform on the roles of English primary headteachers and their Finnish counterparts is examined and compared. Global forces have resulted in similar policy trends in both countries but owing to contrasting cultural values and education traditions there are marked differences in the mechanisms for change at both national and local levels. However, irrespective of globalisation and differing national contexts, there were considerable similarities in the perspectives of headteachers and principals on the rewards and constraints of their role and the realities of leadership and management.

Estimation of Role of Sicilian Region on Production of Quality Wines. A Comparison between the Best Sicilian and Italian Wines by Using Influential W…

2016

Abstract Sicilian region (Southern Italy) has always been the larger Italian wine producer, because of their terroir (i.e. climate, soil and cultivar) and the extension of the vineyard area. For a long time, in the past, Sicilian vineyards produced only wine for blending or for bulk wine consumption. However, the quality of wine production in the Sicilian region has raised significantly over the past years, due to numerous factors, including, primarily, the development of manufacturing techniques, the major business investments of wineries, and the better legislation for protection of quality wines. These factors, combined with producers' targeted marketing strategies and actions, have grea…

In vivo exposure of the marine sponge Chondrilla nucula Schmidt, 1862 to cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) and its potential use for bioremedia…

2018

Abstract The study aimed to test the cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) bioaccumulation capacity of the marine sponge Chondrilla nucula and to measure the expression of metallothioneins (MTs) by a western blotting assay to explore metal tolerance and its potential use as a bioremediator in contaminated coastal areas. C. nucula was sampled in a protected marine area in order to perform experiments on organisms living in a healthy environment. Under laboratory conditions, the sponges were exposed to increasing concentrations of Cd, Cu and Pb in tanks filled with artificial seawater set up for the experiments. For each metal, three waterborne concentrations (mgL−1) of Cd (0.02–0.04-0.08),…

Functionalized Halloysite for enhanced removal of toxic metal ions from aqueous solutions

2018

During the last years several nanomaterials have been extensively used in the heavy metal ions removal from aqueous solutions. Among them, clay minerals have gathered particular interest owing to their unique features (e.g., high specific surface area, low toxicity and natural availability at low price). Halloysite nanotubes (Hal) are particular clay minerals with a predominantly hollow tubular structure. In this work Hal and their derivatives, Hal-NH2 and Hal-SH, were used as adsorbent materials of lead(II) and mercury(II) ions from aqueous solutions. The adsorption ability of clay nanomaterials towards toxic metal ions has been studied takeing into account important variables of the metal…

Relevant figures / Figures in relief

2011

The identification, within the contemporary scenario of communication design, of those figures who have reached a level of excellence (due to professional itineraries, researches, experiments), is not a simple task: the difficulty is not knowing who these figures are, but the responsibility of offering, in a context such as Aiap Design Per, relevant personalities as well as a high level in the various workshops, where many areas of our disciplines are tackled, from typography to editorial design and graphic design for cultural goals. Riuscire a individuare nello scenario contemporaneo del design della comunicazione quelle figure che per percorsi professionali, ricerche, sperimentazioni, si …
