Microreflectivity studies of wavelength control in oxidised AlGaAs microcavities

Wet oxidation of GaAs/AlGaAs structures is an important technique in the processing of advanced devices such as vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). In one VCSEL application, the low-index and electrically-insulating AlxOy layers have been used to obtain high-reflectivity and broad bandwidth distributed Bragg reflector mirrors (DBRs). A further recent development has shown that combined lateral–vertical oxidation of intracavity AlGaAs layers can be used to tune the resonant wavelength of a semiconductor microcavity. In this Master’s thesis testing methods, experimental setups and data evaluation procedures for flat-plate solar thermal collectors are presented. An official quasi-dynamic test method according to the EU standard EN 12975 for evaluating the collector’s thermal performance is described, and its applicability to an existing experimental setup is evaluated. The general practicality of this setup is also reviewed. This paper refers to how the cab deflector of trucks can influence the aerodynamic coefficient. The first part of the paper includes some generalities taken from previous studies, regarding the types of solutions to improve aerodynamics for trucks. The second part of the paper is a more practical one and has two main chapters: modeling and simulation of modeled parts. In this sense, a truck and 3 cabin deflectors were schematically modeled in Catia v5. After assembly in the Catia v5 program, the impact of the cabin deflector was analyzed.
