In this paper, we describe the preparation of liver-targeted polymeric micelles potentially able to carry sorafenib to hepatocytes for treatment of hepatocarcinoma (HCC), exploiting the presence of carbohydrate receptors, ASGPR. These micelles were prepared starting from a galactosylated polylactide-polyaminoacid conjugate. Abstract Plasmids pQE-60 and pQE-30 containing 6× His-tag sequence were used for expression of fragments of HCV structural and non-structural proteins in Escherichia coli (E. coli). The following fragments were used: core (1–98 aa), NS3 (202–482 aa), and tetramer of hypervariable region 1 (HVR1) of E2 protein. The constructed plasmids directed high levels of expression of HCV proteins in E. coli JM109. Abstract We study a combined influence of the Allee effect, delay and stochasticity on the base of the phenomenological Hassell mathematical model of population dynamics. This bistable dynamical model possesses a wide variety of regimes, both regular and chaotic. In the persistence zone, these regimes coexist with the trivial equilibrium that corresponds to the extinction of the population. It is shown that borders of the persistence zone are defined by the crisis and saddle-node bifurcation points. Two factors intrinsic to health are diet and sleep. These two behaviors may well influence one another. Indeed, that insufficient sleep adversely impacts dietary intakes is well documented. On the other hand, diet may influence sleep via melatonin and its biosynthesis from tryptophan. Experimental data exist indicating that provision of specific foods rich in tryptophan or melatonin can improve sleep quality. Whole diets rich in fruits, vegetables, legumes, and other sources of dietary tryptophan and melatonin have been shown to predict favorable sleep outcomes.
