Intensivsykepleierens vurdering og tilrettelegging av søvn : en kvalitativ studie om intensivsykepleierens erfaring med vurdering og tilrettelegging …
2016
Masteroppgave i spesialsykepleie – Universitetet i Agder 2016 Background: Previous studies have showed that lack of sleep makes ICU patients stressed. In addition, other studies have showed that the ICU nurses’ subjective assessment of ICU patients’ sleep have low correspondence with objective data, like polysomnography. This shows the need for further studies related to the assessment and facilitation of sleep that the ICU nurses are doing. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the ICU nurse’s experience of assessment and facilitation of the ICU patient’s sleep, and how sleep can affect the course of the disease. Method: The study has a qualitative approach and in-depth interviews w…
Data mining framework for random access failure detection in LTE networks
2014
Sleeping cell problem is a particular type of cell degradation. There are various software and hardware reasons that might cause such kind of cell outage. In this study a cell becomes sleeping because of Random Access Channel (RACH) failure. This kind of network problem can appear due to misconfiguration, excessive load or software/firmware problem at the Base Station (BS). In practice such failure might cause network performance degradation, which is hardly traceable by an operator. In this paper we present a data mining based framework for the detection of problematic cells. In its core is the analysis of event sequences reported by a User Equipment (UE) to a serving BS. The choice of N i…
The Use of Multimodal Resources by Technical Managers and Their Peers in Meetings Using English as the Business Lingua Franca
2020
Background: Engineers increasingly work and advance their careers in international business settings. As technical managers, they need management and technical skills when working with different stakeholders with whom they may not share a common first language. Studies have revealed that informal oral communication skills are of prime importance for global engineers who face challenges in building shared meaning and formulating clear messages in meetings with non-native speakers of English. This article proposes that studying the use of multimodal resources (spoken language, gaze, gestures, and objects) in meetings can unpack how work tasks are accomplished in business through different com…
“Terve uni on kasvatuksella hankittavissa”. Nukkumisen ohjeistaminen 1800-1900-luvun vaihteen suomalaisissa terveysohjeissa
2017
Longitudinal and cross-sectional associations of adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines with cardiometabolic risk
2022
This study aimed to examine 1) adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines over a 2-year follow-up in children aged 6-8 years and 2) association of this adherence with cardiometabolic risk factors. Physical activity and sleep were assessed by a monitor combining heart rate and accelerometry measurements. Screen time was reported by the parents. Body fat percentage, waist circumference, blood glucose, serum insulin, plasma lipids and blood pressure were assessed, and a cardiometabolic risk score was calculated using z-scores. Children were classified as meeting the guidelines if they had on average ≥60min/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity during the valid days; ≤120min/day of screen…
Sense experience and differentiation : Husserl on bodily awareness
2023
This article outlines the basic ingredients of Husserl’s theory of bodily awareness. It first analyses the concepts of hyletic and kinesthetic sensibility, and illustrates the interwovenness and equiprimordiality of Me and not-Me in Husserl’s account. Second, it shows how the concept of the lived body emerges from this complex sensible foundation. Thirdly, it argues that, as the area of intersection between the Me and the not-Me, bodily awareness is the initial locus of differentiation between Me and not-Me: an area where the experiential distinction between the Me and the not-Me is constantly negotiated. peerReviewed
Minimizing fleet operating costs for a container transportation company
2006
Abstract This paper focuses on a fleet management problem that arises in container trucking industry. From the container transportation company perspective, the present and future operating costs to minimize can be divided in three components: the routing costs, the resource (i.e., driver and truck) assignment costs and the container repositioning costs (i.e., the costs of restoring a given container fleet distribution over the serviced territory, as requested by the shippers that own the containers). This real-world problem has been modeled as an integer programming problem. The proposed solution approach is based on the decomposition of this problem in three simpler sub-problems associate…
Advances in ventilatory treatment for OSAS
2021
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most widely used treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and was established four decades ago. An alternative option is to use bilevel ventilation, in order to improve compliance to treatment especially in patients who need a high therapeutic pressure to prevent nocturnal respiratory events. Automatic CPAP or bilevel ventilation are also established among OSA therapeutic choices, and are generally indicated in cases of highly variable therapeutic pressure. The major advances in the field regard OSAS in the context of uncomplicated obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS), in which either CPAP or bilevel ventilation yield comparable result…
Dipeptidyl Enoates As Potent Rhodesain Inhibitors That Display a Dual Mode of Action
2015
Dipeptidyl enoates were prepared through a high-yielding two-step synthetic route. They have a dipeptidic structure with a 4-oxoenoate moiety as a warhead with multiple reactive sites. Dipeptidyl enoates were screened against rhodesain and human cathepsins B and L, and were found to be potent and selective inhibitors of rhodesain. Among them (S,E)-ethyl 5-((S)-2-{[(benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}-3-phenylpropanamido)-7-methyl-4-oxooct-2-enoate (6) was the most potent, with an IC50 value of 16.4 nm and kinact/Ki=1.6×106 m−1 s−1 against rhodesain. These dipeptidyl enoates display a reversible mode of inhibition at very low concentrations and an irreversible mode at higher concentrations. Inhibition…
