Rischi da sisma e uso di tecnologie appropriate per proteggere il patrimonio esistente : Earthquake risks and use of appropriate technologies to prot…

2017

The 21st Century Reforms (Re)Shaping the Education Policy of Inclusive and Special Education in Finland

2021

In recent decades, an essential global aim of the reforms of special education has been the promotion of inclusive education. This article discusses the implementation of reforms with a focus on tiered support systems in the context of Finnish comprehensive school education. Based on earlier literature, legislation, and administrative documents, we provide a background for Finnish education policy and special education reforms. The focus of this article is on the description of parallel reforms targeting the re-structuring of the systems around support for students and funding of education in the 2010s. We discuss the processes leading to these reforms and the reforms themselves. In additio…

Tackling racism seriously: Human rights and the underpinnings of ethnic recognition

2017

2015

The first legal document that introduced a distinction of treatment between imprisoned men and women was created during the interwar period. At that time, the need to differentiate the execution of the penalty methods between men and women was emphasized. This particular period initiated the beginning of formulating separate regulations related to the issue of imprisoned women. At first, they were treated as a homogeneous population. However, after some time, the need for alternative treatment of female prisoners, especially pregnant and breastfeeding, was noticed. Gradually, taking into account gender differences in the penitentiary interactions, slow evolution was taking place, especially…

Bodily cleanliness in modern nursing

2013

Why are bodily washing practices the way they are in nursing? Michel Foucault argues that modern democratic societies discipline human bodies in accordance with political interests. In the extension of that argumentation we will show that bodily cleanliness in modern nursing may have been used as a disciplining tool. The first part of our discussion takes as its point of departure the second half of the 19th/the beginning of the 20th centuries, the period in which modern nursing emerged. At that time scientific theories on hygiene seem to have legitimized the political effort to produce a clean, pleasant-smelling, decent, obedient, and productive population. Doctors, nurses and teachers pla…

Geneza Case Method i jej wpływ na kształt amerykańskiej filozofii prawa

2018
