Le traduzioni italiane dei volgarismi finnici in quattro romanzi di Arto Paasilinna : studio comparativo

Arto Paasilinna on yksi kansainvälisesti tunnetuimpia elossa olevia suomalaiskirjailijoita. Hän on kirjoittanut yli 30 romaania, joita on käännetty lukuisille eri kielille. Paasilinnan tyylille ovat ominaista puhekielisyys ja värikkäät, usein murteelliset ilmaukset. Puhekielisyydestä johtuen romaaneissa esiintyy myös runsaasti alatyylisiä ilmauksia. Tutkin työssäni, kuinka nämä alatyyliset ilmaukset on käännetty italiaksi. Tarkastelen, ovatko käännösvastineet uskollisia alkuperäisille ilmauksille yhtäältä semantiikan, toisaalta pragmatiikan näkökulmasta. The article reviews research and findings on problems and issues faced when translating international academic achievement tests. The purpose is to draw attention to the problems, to help to develop the procedures followed when translating the tests, and to provide suggestions for further research. In international education studies, the different-language test versions need to be equally difficult to read and answer for the test to be valid. To ensure comparability, several quality control procedures have been developed. Among these, surprisingly little attention has been paid to judgmental reviews and their ability to identify language-related sources of bias. The effects of music on the brain have been extensively researched, and numerous connections have been found between music and language, music and emotion, and music and cognitive processing. Despite this work, these three research areas have never before been drawn together in a single research paradigm. Geomorphology and surface geology of Mount St. Helens volcano

Mount St. Helens is a stratovolcano of the Cascadia volcanic arc well known worldwide for its volcanic collapse and eruption in 1980, which caused considerable destruction and changed the geomorphology of the volcano and of a considerable portion of its surroundings. This paper presents a geomorphology and surface-geology map of both the wider Mount St. Helens, Washington (USA), at the 1:50,000 scale, and of its crater, at the 1:25,000 scale. The map is obtained from the interpretation of two high-resolution, air-borne acquired, digital terrain models, LiDAR dataset, combined with Google Earth imaging, geological information and field surveys. This article examines the organisation of VOX, a new radical right party in Spain. It shows that the party has taken early and uneven steps to build a mass organisation and initially opted for open membership recruitment with participatory organisational elements. Also, the party’s rapid growth and quick entrance into political institutions at different state levels led the party leadership to establish more centralised control and limit members’ prerogatives, though recruitment continued. Bahuvriihit ovat produktiivisuudestaan ja yleisyydestään huolimatta varsin vähän tutkittu sananmuodostuksen tuote. Kirjallisuudesta löytyvät määritelmät termille ovat epäyhtenäisiä ja osin puutteellisia. Lyhyesti määriteltynä bahuvriihi on yhdyssana, joka useimmiten viittaa elolliseen olentoon sen osan kautta. Suomenkielisiä esimerkkejä, joille löytyy vastine myös saksan ja ruotsin kielestä, ovat mm. pässinpää, sekopää ja kalpeanaama. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin ongelmia, joita kansainvälisissä lukukokeissa on käännettäessä lukukoetekstejä osallistujamaiden kielille ja pyrittäessä samalla pitämään tekstien vaikeustaso muuttumattomana – sillä elleivät koetekstit ole vaikeustasoltaan ekvivalentteja, vertailukelpoisia, ei lukukoekaan ole validi. Tieto ongelmista on tarpeen, koska se auttaa tekemään käännöksistä laadukkaampia ja vertailukelpoisempia, mikä vuorostaan johtaa luotettavampiin, pätevämpiin ja tasa-arvoisempiin lukukokeisiin.
