How far do tadpoles travel in the rainforest? : Parent-assisted dispersal in poison frogs

Parents can influence offspring dispersal through breeding site selection, competition, or by directly moving their offspring during parental care. Many animals move their young, but the potential role of this behavior in dispersal has rarely been investigated. Neotropical poison frogs (Dendrobatidae) are well known for shuttling their tadpoles from land to water, but the associated movements have rarely been quantified and the potential function of tadpole transport in dispersal has not been addressed. Towards 3D Television Through Fusion of Kinect and Integral-Imaging Concepts

We report a new procedure for the capture and processing of light proceeding from 3D scenes of some cubic meters in size. Specifically we demonstrate that with the information provided by a kinect device it is possible to generate an array of microimages ready for their projection onto an integral-imaging monitor. We illustrate our proposal with some imaging experiment in which the final result are 3D images displayed with full parallax.

This keynote address will present an overview of recent advances in Three-dimensional (3D) sensing, imaging and display. We shall discuss both passive sensing integral imaging and active sensing computational holographic imaging for 3D visualization, display, and image recognition. Mathematical analysis, computer simulations, and optical experimental results will be presented. There are numerous applications of these technologies including medical 3D imaging, 3D visualization, 3D identification and inspection, 3D television, 3D video, 3D multimedia, interactive communication, education, entertainment, and commerce.
Three-dimensional resolvability in an integral imaging system

The concept of three-dimensional (3D) resolvability of an integral imaging system is thoroughly investigated in this research. The general concept of 3D resolution fails to describe the 3D discrimination completely. Then the concepts of the depth-resolution plane and lateral-resolution plane are introduced to show the difference between the conventional 3D spatial resolution and the newly introduced 3D resolvability. Therefore, the different properties of these planes for differentiating lateral spatial variations and axial variations are analyzed in this paper. The theoretical statements are demonstrated experimentally.

Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman pyrkimyksenä oli ymmärtää ja analysoida Pikku Kakkosen nettiä ja erityisesti sen vuorovaikutteisia leikkejä. Pikku Kakkosen nettiä ja sen sisältöjä tarkastellaan kokonaisuutena. Tämän gradun muoto onkin työnäytegradu. Projektin tavoitteena oli tuottaa tietoa siitä, miten uudenlainen verkkoympäristö ja -sisällöt aktivoivat lapsia sekä miten sivuston vuorovaikutuksellisia elementtejä pystyttäisiin kehittämään edelleen. Projektiin sisältyy myös tutkimus lasten osallistumisesta juontajan simuloimaan vuorovaikutuskäyttäytymiseen. Projektin tutkimus toteutettiin havainnoimalla kuutta 3-5-vuotiasta tutkimushenkilöä. Heterogeneity of traditional and digital media use among older adults : A six-country comparison

The concept of aged heterogeneity has been associated with older adults' ability to adapt to the digital age without a systematic empirical analysis. We analyse retired adults' (aged 62 or more) use of traditional media and their digital equivalents in six countries. First, we ask whether heterogeneity in traditional and digital media use increases with age. Second, we study to what extent gender is related to this heterogeneity, and third, the country differences in the heterogeneity of media use in later life.
