Improving checkpointing intervals by considering individual job failure probabilities

Checkpointing is a popular resilience method in HPC and its efficiency highly depends on the choice of the checkpoint interval. Standard analytical approaches optimize intervals for big, long-running jobs that fail with high probability, while they are unable to minimize checkpointing overheads for jobs with a low or medium probability of failing. Nevertheless, our analysis of batch traces of four HPC systems shows that these jobs are extremely common.We therefore propose an iterative checkpointing algorithm to compute efficient intervals for jobs with a medium risk of failure. Pre-storage high-temperature conditioning (HTC, 38 °C, and 95% RH for 24 h) and individual film wrapping (IFW) with a perforated polyolefinic heat-shrinkable film were used as individual treatments or in combination to mitigate chilling injury of first crop cactus pear cv âGiallaâ. The fruit was stored for 21 days at either 2 or 8 °C (CS) plus 1 week of simulated marketing conditions (SMC) at 20 °C. The reduction in peel disorders and decay in HTC-treated fruit stored at 2 °C was comparable to that detected in control fruit stored at 8 °C. This paper challenges the increasingly accepted position that, internationally, the audit profession is facing a major liability crisis. Its analysis of auditing developments in Spain since the late 1980s reveals an audit liability “crisis” which is more the result of the profession’s campaign to align itself with legal regimes abroad rather than a direct consequence of major legal settlements in favour of third parties. In this paper we will review the ATLAS Monte Carlo production setup including the different production steps involved in full and fast detector simulation. A report on the Monte Carlo production campaigns during run 1 and long shutdown 1 will be presented, including details on various performance aspects. Important improvements in the work flow and software will be highlighted. Besides standard Monte Carlo production for data analyses at 7 and 8 TeV, the production accommodates for various specialised activities. In this work, municipal wastewater was treated with microalgal/activated sludge consortia. We aimed at obtaining a positive interaction between the microalgae and the heterotrophic bacteria and identifying the best combination for bioremediation purposes. Psychometric properties of saving cognition inventory in Italian nonclinical samples

The main purpose of the study was aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Saving Cognition Inventory (SCI) in Italian nonclinical samples. Two studies were conducted: (a) study 1 was focused on the confirmation of the factorial structure, internal consistency reliability, and subscales' intercorrelations on a sample of 252 participants; (b) study 2 was focused on gathering construct validity data on a sample of 244 participants. In addition to the SCI, other seven self-report measures were administered in order to assess hoarding, depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms.
