Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to reinterpret Attali’s worldview through the lenses of liberalism and Buddhism by mobilizing the relevant literature, beyond the mere book review. This paper is an essay based on the book “Devenir Soi” by Jacques Attali, published in France in 2014. These analytical grids were chosen, because freedom and self-realization are two themes that pervade the book. The purpose of this article is to derive the logical but unexpected consequences in terms of social justice, of the presuppositions on utopian constructions. In the conditions generally in effect in urban utopias which lay claim to a certain amount of social justice combining equality, fairness and liberty in different ways, equality is likely to interfere with liberty, even create inequalities, and liberty can adapt to inequalities, perhaps even create losses of liberty. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kuvailla ja tulkita sitä, millainen ideologinen tausta Suomen huippumalli haussa -ohjelmalla on. Aineistona tutkimuksessa käytettiin vuoden 2010 keväällä esitettyjen ohjelman kolmannen tuotantokauden jaksoja, joita oli yhteensä kymmenen. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa oli tarkoitus tarkastella, miten valtasuhteita ja ideologisuutta tuotetaan ohjelmassa, sekä pohtia sitä, kuka tai mikä kyseisistä valinnoista hyötyy. Tuloksia tarkasteltiin myös laajemmasta sosiokulttuurisesta näkökulmasta. Tutkimus on luonteeltaan laadullinen ja analyysin näkökulmaksi valittiin kriittinen diskurssianalyysi.
