Analysis covered the year of publication, the type of work and the subject matter of the citing documents concerned. GIFs in online interaction: embodied cues and beyond

International audience; Recent research has characterized GIFs as a means for speakers to reproduce nonlinguistic cues such as bodily actions and facial expressions in online written interaction, which is first and foremost text-based. They make it possible to translate in digital interaction what those nonlinguistic cues enable to do in face-to-face conversation: express emotion and affect, and elaborate on what is being said. This article explores further the role and functions of GIFs as embodied cues and goes beyond, where GIF use diverges from body language in face-to-face conversation.

Abstract Credit and debit cards have spread and skyrocketed all around the world to become the most popular means of payments in many countries. Despite their enormous popularity, cards are not free of risk. Technology development and e-commerce have exponentially increased internal credit card incidents. This paper identifies and quantifies the different types of credit card fraud and puts into question the effectiveness of the role assigned to cardholders in its detection.

The use of error-correcting codes protects data against accidental or intentional errors, but to what extent can a decoded message be trusted? To answer this question, one has to take the role of the receiver. First, the maximum number of errors Lambda acceptable for decoding is fixed. With the weight distribution, the probability of false decoding can be calculated, conditioned on such a Lambda-bounded strategy. Adsorbed CO on group 10 metal fragments: A DFT study

DFT calculations on the helicopter and cartwheel rotations of one CO molecule adsorbed at the bridge site on metal-surface fragments, characterized by two (M(8)) or three (M(14)) metal-atom layers (M = Ni, Pd, Pt) were performed by the B3LYP[LANL2DZ+6-31 g(d,p)] method, to rationalize the adsorption energetics and the steric hindrance characteristics of surface CO molecules.
