Purpose: The purpose of the study was to analyze the determinants of citations such as publication year, article type, article topic, article selected for a press release, number of articles previously published by the corresponding author, and publication language in a Spanish journal of public health. Methods: Observational study including all articles published in Gaceta Sanitaria during 2007-2011. Comienza este artículo trazando el origen y desarrollo de las revistas electrónicas en acceso abierto, cómo surgieron, se fueron definiendo y a qué necesidades respondieron. Se explica cómo se produjo la transición del mundo impreso al electrónico en el diseño y concepción de las revistas; y se señala exactamente cuando se produjo el despegue de este tipo de publicaciones. Para describir la situación actual de las revistas se recurre a los datos proporcionados por el directorio de publicaciones electrónicas Ulrichs y al directorio de revistas en acceso abierto DOAJ. Resumen basado en el de la publicación La progresiva implantación del software libre en los ámbitos universitarios, se acompaña de un discurso construido sobre las controversias que rodean a esta tecnología. Para el análisis de este problema se utiliza el modelo de 'espacios controversiales' propuesto por Nudler, definiendo uno de estos espacios en torno a la aplicación de las tecnologías informáticas en las enseñanzas universitarias. Abstract To change the educational scene in the epoch of the digital generation there is the possibility of using Open Education (OE) and Open Educational Resources (OER). The term “open educational resources” refers to resources with free access to use, adaptation and redistribution. The objectives of the research are to determine the degree of knowledge and use of OER in three Engineering Universities in three countries (Poland, Hungary and Romania) and to find out whether there is a relationship between the institutions in terms of knowledge and use of OER.
