A Monge-Kantorovich mass transport problem for a discrete distance

2011

This paper is concerned with a Monge-Kantorovich mass transport problem in which in the transport cost we replace the Euclidean distance with a discrete distance. We fix the length of a step and the distance that measures the cost of the transport depends of the number of steps that is needed to transport the involved mass from its origin to its destination. For this problem we construct special Kantorovich potentials, and optimal transport plans via a nonlocal version of the PDE formulation given by Evans and Gangbo for the classical case with the Euclidean distance. We also study how these problems, when rescaling the step distance, approximate the classical problem. In particular we obta…

Legal and forensic psychology in Spain: A study of official masters and degrees in Spanish universities

2018

Integrating Natural Language Processing (NLP) with existing library framework in enhancing level of users' satisfaction

2022

Introduction: Libraries are the storehouse of information instilling knowledge into human minds. The easy availability of information from online sources has barred users from visiting the library physically. To keep the users intact within the physical confines of a library, there is a need for libraries to evolve through the implementation of state-of-the-art techniques. Purpose– The purpose of this study is to develop a theoretical framework and conceptual background for applying natural language processing (NLP) in library and information science (LIS) to improve library services and related research. This study also aims to identify the LIS areas where NLP can use and implement …

Cobalt Metal-Organic Framework based on two dinuclear secondary building units for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

2019

[EN] The synthesis of a new microporous metal-organic framework (MOF) based on two secondary building units, with dinuclear cobalt centers, has been developed. The employment of a well-defined cobalt cluster results in an unusual topology of the Co-2-MOF, where one of the cobalt centers has three open coordination positions, which has no precedent in MOF materials based on cobalt. Adsorption isotherms have revealed that Co-2-MOF is in the range of best CO2 adsorbents among the carbon materials, with very high CO2/CH4 selectivity. On the other hand, dispersion of Co-2-MOF in an alcoholic solution of Nafion gives rise to a composite (Co-2-MOF@Nafion) with great resistance to hydrolysis in aqu…

A new nature of microporous architecture with hierarchical porosity and membrane template via high strain rate collision

2019

Abstract This paper presents the formation of an unusual porous structure at Al/Al interface joined by magnetic pulse welding. The porous structure consists of a hierarchical microporous architecture with pore size of less than 2 µm that represents more than 80% over the whole area, in which 38% of them are sub-micron size pores. It also exhibits ultra-thin wall, sufficiently thin enough to behave as an electron-transparent material with a wall thickness of 50 nm. The formation of this porous structure is attributed to a cavitation process of a molten material in three stages including, (1) nucleation, (2) growth and coalescence and (3) solidification. Further analysis of this cavitation pr…

Iterative Reconstruction of Memory Kernels.

2017

In recent years, it has become increasingly popular to construct coarse-grained models with non-Markovian dynamics to account for an incomplete separation of time scales. One challenge of a systematic coarse-graining procedure is the extraction of the dynamical properties, namely, the memory kernel, from equilibrium all-atom simulations. In this article, we propose an iterative method for memory reconstruction from dynamical correlation functions. Compared to previously proposed noniterative techniques, it ensures by construction that the target correlation functions of the original fine-grained systems are reproduced accurately by the coarse-grained system, regardless of time step and disc…

A Proximal Solution for a Class of Extended Minimax Location Problem

2005

We propose a proximal approach for solving a wide class of minimax location problems which in particular contains the round trip location problem. We show that a suitable reformulation of the problem allows to construct a Fenchel duality scheme the primal-dual optimality conditions of which can be solved by a proximal algorithm. This approach permits to solve problems for which distances are measured by mixed norms or gauges and to handle a large variety of convex constraints. Several numerical results are presented.

An airline connection builder using maximum connection lag with greedy parameter selection

2014

Abstract This paper introduces a methodology for designing an airline connection builder (CB) and adjusting its parameter settings. The objective of the proposed CB is to construct relevant connections that attract passenger demand while avoiding operationally infeasible and commercially irrelevant connections. Using worldwide MIDT booking data, we examined the sensitivity of CB results to the setting of the standard CB parameters maximum connection time and geographical detour. We demonstrated that CB performance can be increased by replacing these two parameters with connection lag, a measure that combines the impact of connection time with geographical detour on the total travel time of …
