Movie Script Similarity Using Multilayer Network Portrait Divergence
2020
International audience; This paper addresses the question of movie similarity through multilayer graph similarity measures. Recent work has shown how to construct multilayer networks using movie scripts, and how they capture different aspects of the stories. Based on this modeling, we propose to rely on the multilayer structure and compute different similarities, so we may compare movies, not from their visual content, summary, or actors, but actually from their own storyboard. We propose to do so using “portrait divergence”, which has been recently introduced to compute graph distances from summarizing graph characteristics. We illustrate our approach on the series of six Star Wars movies.
Gl-learning
2016
In this paper, we present a new open-source software library, Gl-learning, for grammatical inference. The rise of new application scenarios in recent years has required optimized methods to address knowledge extraction from huge amounts of data and to model highly complex systems. Our library implements the main state-of-the-art algorithms in the grammatical inference field (RPNI, EDSM, L*), redesigned through the OpenMP library for a parallel execution that drastically decreases execution times. To our best knowledge, it is also the first comprehensive library including a noise tolerance learning algorithm, such as Blue*, that significantly broadens the range of the potential application s…
Grounded Analytic Research: Building Theory from a Body of Research
2012
Track II: Recent Developments in Inductive Research Methods; International audience; In this paper, we present Grounded Analytic Research (GAR) as a method to build theory by synthesizing empirical findings from multiple studies that has been conducted by a single researcher. GAR incorporates concepts from grounded theory, analytic research and systematic literature review. The method was applied in a doctoral dissertation work to build the theoretical concept of Demand Sustainability of public Internet access in the context of bridging the digital divide. We describe GAR and compare it with existing theory building methods that are similar to it in epistemology and ontology.
« Thyroid diseases and food: creating a follow-up and support device for patients ».
2022
Part of project "ThyroSIC - Thyroid Disease Trajectory: Communication and Publicization“, this study looks into the possibility of creating a participative and follow up device in collaboration with patients’ associations but also the hospital center and professionals. This will allow us to respond to the needs related to the lack of awareness of the population, to prevention actions but also to the follow-up and support of patients (such as the need to set up therapeutic education devices).

Is tubulin the sole antigen recognized by a putative anti-bursicon antibody?
1999
Abstract A 56-kDa polypeptide suspected to be the tanning hormone `bursicon' was analyzed using the monoclonal antibody (mAb) 01C10 of Song and Ma. We studied the beetle Tenebrio molitor, for which data on bursicon have been recently published. After purification by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis of brain proteins, the immunoreactive 56-kDa polypeptide was trypsinated and microsequenced. The obtained sequences revealed a high homology with α- and β-tubulins. In a complementary study, immunoreactive clones were isolated, using the 01C10 mAb, from a library in expression vector obtained from Drosophila melanogaster head cDNAs. Again, the isolated clones were found, after cDNA sequencing,…
Comparison of MeSH terms and KeyWords Plus terms for more accurate classification in medical research fields. A case study in cannabis research
2021
Abstract KeyWords Plus and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) are widely used in bibliometric studies for topic mapping. The objective of this study is to compare the two description systems in documents about cannabis research to find the concordance between systems and establish whether there is neutrality in topic mapping. A total of 25,593 articles from 1970 to 2019 were drawn from Web of Science's Core Collection and Medline and analyzed. The tidytext library, Zipf's law, topic modeling tools, the contingency coefficient, Cramer's V, and Cohen's kappa were used. The results included 10,107 MeSH terms and 28,870 KeyWords Plus terms. The Zipf distribution of the terms was different for each…
The Efficacy and Safety of Topiramate in the Prevention of Pediatric Migraine: An Update Meta-Analysis
2020
Background: Migraine is the most common acute primary headache in children and adolescents. In 2014, topiramate became the first preventive drug for migraine, approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for adolescents. This meta-analysis was aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of topiramate in the prevention of pediatric migraine. Methods: We searched the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases up to June 2019 for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The primary outcomes were mean migraine days per month, ≥50% reduction rate, and Pediatric Migraine Disability Assessment Scale (PedMIDAS) scores. RevMan5.3 software…
A Lightweight Network Discovery Algorithm for Resource-constrained IoT Devices
2019
Although quite simple, existing protocols for the IoT suffer from the inflexibility of centralized infrastructures and require several configuration stages. The implementation of these protocols is often prohibitive on resource-constrained devices. In this work, we propose a distributed lightweight implementation of network discovery for simple IoT devices. Our approach is based on the exchange of symbolic executable code among nodes. Based on this abstraction, we propose an algorithm that makes even IoT resource-constrained nodes able to construct the network topology graph incrementally and without any a priori information about device positioning and presence. The minimal set of executab…
