Les organisations publiques : des institutions communicantes ?
2009
The squeaky clean image of soap in advertising
2014
Go and wash your hands; give them a good scrub and a good rinse… " We can all remember that little chorus of parental discourse before dinner or any other time one has to look immaculate. Our first symbolic relationship with soap is perhaps something of this nature: hands first, followed by the sink and the simple act of washing. But this relationship with soap and its derivatives, which has now become every day, both functional and intimate, involves all manner of shapes, colours, materials and affective nuances affecting our choice of the right soap for us. Our criteria: its composition, its fragrance or scent and mouth-watering notes, its presentation, its shelf-life? Its designation, to…
La colaboración científica: principales líneas de investigación y retos de futuro
2014
The construction of knowledge is a collaborative process that has seen a dramatic growth over recent decades, since almost all research activities now involve increasing numbers of researchers, institutions, disciplines and countries. The present study provides a bibliographic review of the literature on research collaboration and identifies pioneering work on the topic, the types of studies undertaken and the variables analyzed. Several approaches are discussed: the “classical” approach, based on bibliometric indicators, which has taken on a new dimension with Social Network Analysis; and quantitative and qualitative approaches, which attempt to investigate the motivations and dynamics of …
The changing paradigm of document delivery : exploring researchers’ peer to peer practices
2016
Purpose By definition, interlibrary lending is a process involving two libraries. The digital revolution changed the method by which the scientific documents were disseminated during the past couple of decades. Nowadays, researchers can exploit several software applications that enable them to upload, save and deliver their documents from one peer to another without the need for a middle man. This paper reviews this change via a study conducted in two Finnish academic universities. The aim of this study was to determine the extent to which researchers have adopted these new possibilities for document dissemination and how this change will affect the role of the libraries in document delive…

Twitter rhetoric ? Argumentation in a Twitter debate : a case study
2015
International audience; On the 20th June 2008, “#pdfdebate”, the first presidential campaign debate to be held on Twitter, was launched. For five days, a representative of each of the two major candidates to the US presidential election used their Twitter account to engage in a debate on technology and government, moderated by a famous political blogger. This initiative of Personal Democracy Media, a private foundation dedicated to the study of new technologies in politics, has had no real posterity to this day and was generally considered as a failure. Commentators, both in the press and on Twitter, mostly blamed this failure on the fact that Twitter and its interface are not really suitab…

Are Brands Postmodern Relics? Taking a Closer Look at New Sacred Objects
2011
Summary : Ever since the Church lost its monopoly on the sacred, no longer able to solely determine its form or contents, the social sphere has gradually taken over this value, applying it to new human and social objects. As a result, the modes of expression of the sacred have multiplied, along with the subjective and intimate experiences of modern individualism. Among the vast number of potential manifestations of this value, to which almost everything now seems to aspire, this paper will concentrate on commercial brands as vectors of meaning, with the hypothesis that some of them seek to position themselves, in postmodern society, as new figures of the sacred. This area of study is close …
