DESDEO : An Open Framework for Interactive Multiobjective Optimization
2018
We introduce a framework for interactive multiobjective optimization methods called DESDEO released under an open source license. With the framework, we want to make interactive methods easily accessible to be applied in solving real-world problems. The framework follows an object-oriented software design paradigm, where functionalities have been divided to modular, self-contained components. The framework contains implementations of some interactive methods, but also components which can be utilized to implement more interactive methods and, thus, increase the applicability of the framework. To demonstrate how the framework can be used, we consider an example problem where the pollution of…
Las obras musicales en las radios universitarias
2018
The Spanish General Audiovisual Communication Law does not relate to Campus Radio Stations. In this context, Copyright Collection Societies do not cover them in their catalogues of general fees. For this reason, the holders of these radios are forced to negotiate them. Althoug the Intellectual Property Law and the Order ECD/2574/2015, of 2 December, contain obligations for Copyright Collection Societies, on this matter its enforcement are far from being achieved
Law, Borders, and Speech Conference: Proceedings and Materials
2017
Tensions between national law and the Internet’s global architecture have existed since the network’s earliest days. They took on new urgency in recent years, with developments like French regulators’ efforts to globally enforce “Right to Be Forgotten” laws. New cases, technologies, and platform responses seem to come along every few months. Expert-level discussion of these issues is dynamic and fast-moving -- but the written literature is only starting to catch up. This volume contributes to that literature by capturing insights from the Stanford Center for Internet and Society’s Law, Borders, and Speech conference. The event honored the twentieth anniversary of David G. Post and David R. …
Vertical Integration due to Small Market Size and High Product Development and Integration Costs
2009
An independent software vendor (ISV) recovers the costs of software development and configuration through license fees. However, if the number of ISV's customers is limited, then either the license fees needed for recovering the software development investments may be too high (and hence the customer would prefer to develop the software internally), or the ISV's margin may have to be decreased. Given the costs of development and configuration, as well as the margins set by the ISVs, it is possible to estimate how many customers an ISV has to have in order to recover its costs. Furthermore, given a market of a specific size and the minimum number of ISV's customers, it is possible to assess …
Dynamic Spectrum Reservation for CR Networks in the Presence of Channel Failures: Channel Allocation and Reliability Analysis
2018
[EN] Providing channel access opportunities for new service requests and guaranteeing continuous connections for ongoing flows until service completion are two challenges for service provisioning in wireless networks. Channel failures, which are typically caused by hardware and software failures or/and by intrinsic instability in radio transmissions, can easily result in network performance degradation. In cognitive radio networks (CRNs), secondary transmissions are inherently vulnerable to connection breaks due to licensed users' arrivals as well as channel failures. To explore the advantages of channel reservation on performance improvement in error-prone channels, we propose and analyze …

Authors talk about subjects as Sport policy and heroes in the Romanian communism, Food in war time in Transylvania, Global Security, Cyberspace, Postcommunism, Evaluation of some toxic compounds in water, Public policies. Research and Science Today Journal is a publication founded in 2011 and it is dedicated to the students of all levels (license, master and doctoral) of faculties in the country and abroad. We want to offer the participants the opportunity to present their scientific works in the follow…
Medico-legal implications of sleep apnoea syndrome: driving license regulations in Europe.
2008
Background: Sleep apnoea syndrome (SAS), one of the main medical causes of excessive daytime sleepiness, has been shown to be a risk factor for traffic accidents. Treating SAS results in a normalized rate of traffic accidents. As part of the COST Action B-26, we looked at driving license regulations, and especially at its medical aspects in the European region. Methods: We obtained data from Transport Authorities in 25 countries (Austria, AT; Belgium, BE; Czech Republic, CZ; Denmark, DK; Estonia, EE; Finland, FI; France, FR; Germany, DE; Greece, GR; Hungary, HU; Ireland, IE; Italy, IT; Lithuania, LT; Luxembourg, LU; Malta, MT; Netherlands, NL; Norway, EC; Poland, PL; Portugal, PT; Slovakia,…
Retrieving Open Source Software Licenses
2006
Open Source Software maintenance and reuse require identifying and comprehending the applied software licenses. This paper first characterizes software maintenance, and open source software (OSS) reuse which are particularly relevant in this context. The information needs of maintainers and reusers can be supported by reverse engineering tools at different information retrieval levels. The paper presents an automated license retrieval approach called ASLA. User needs, system architecture, tool features, and tool evaluation are presented. The implemented tool features support identifying source file dependencies and licenses in source files, and adding new license templates for identifying l…
