The aim of this doctoral thesis is to explore the influence of neighborhood-level variables on the spatial and spatio-temporal distribution of different social problems in the city of Valencia. In Study 1, we present data on the development and validation of an observational instrument to assess neighborhood disorder. Results supported a three-factor model (physical disorder, social disorder and physical deterioration), and they showed good reliability and validity evidences. El presente trabajo tiene carácter descriptivo y es consecuencia de años de servicio en políticas públicas de seguridad; esta experiencia personal ha pasado por el tamiz de la reflexión ética, y al escribirla hemos pretendido reconstruir esa experiencia de trabajo desde la perspectiva de una ética cívica. Esta voluntad de reconstrucción supone en cierto modo una “justicia reparadora” con los verdaderos protagonistas de esta historia: policías y vecinos, todos ciudadanos en un mismo escenario, la España constitucional, que han trabajado por la seguridad ciudadana y la libertad. The effect of carvacrol on enteric viruses.

Carvacrol, a monoterpenic phenol, is said to have extensive antimicrobial activity in a wide range of food spoilage or pathogenic fungi, yeast and bacteria. The aim of this study was to assess its antiviral activity on norovirus surrogates, feline calicivirus (FCV), murine norovirus (MNV), and hepatitis A virus (HAV), as well as its potential in food applications. Initially, different concentrations of carvacrol (0.25, 0.5, 1%) were individually mixed with each virus at titers of ca. 6-7 log TCID50/ml and incubated 2h at 37°C. AbstractMany organisms disperse in groups, yet this process is understudied in viruses. Recent work, however, has uncovered different types of collective infectious units, all of which lead to the joint delivery of multiple viral genome copies to target cells, favoring co-infections. Collective spread of viruses can occur through widely different mechanisms, including virion aggregation driven by specific extracellular components, cloaking inside lipid vesicles, encasement in protein matrices, or binding to cell surfaces. This paper describes a research program within Information and Communication Sciences (ISC). This program is based on the understanding of online socialization processes. Particularely, it is focused on rationalization issues for communities forms and rules online. Since the end of the years 2000, this rationalization for online communities is also known as Community Management. We formulate the hypothesis that community management policies spread to whole human activities on the web 2.0, and that community management policies rule the new knowledge mediations.
