The lithium salts of the chalcogenocarbonyl dianions [(E)C(PPh(2)S)(2)](2-) (E=S (4 b), Se (4 c)) were produced through the reactions between Li(2)[C(PPh(2)S)(2)] and elemental chalcogens in the presence of tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA). The solid-state structure of {[Li(TMEDA)](2)[(Se)C(PPh(2)S)(2)]}-[{Li(TMEDA)}(2)4 c]-was shown to be bicyclic with the Li(+) cations bis-S,Se-chelated by the dianionic ligand. On 21 April 2021 Lidia Curti left us. One of the first to develop cultural and postcolonial studies in Italy, a central voice in feminist and gender studies, a tireless scholar, Lidia Curti was a fundamental figure for all of us. In this article, through three of her key texts, I retrace the leitmotiv of women’s writing of living ‘between’ the interstices in the light of Donna Haraway’s FS figurations, and the postcolonial and feminist method of the listening position and of ‘speaking nearby’ against the powers of ventriloquism.

Biomimetic Synthesis of the Apoptosis-Inducing Thiazinoquinone Thiaplidiaquinone A

A concise total synthesis of the apoptosis-inducing, marine metabolite thiaplidiaquinone A is described. The key ring forming steps are both based on biosynthetic considerations and involve the construction of the central benzo[c]chromene quinone unit by an extremely facile oxa-6π-electrocyclic ring closure reaction of an ortho-quinone intermediate, derived by tautomerization of a bis-benzoquinone, readily accessed from two simple phenolic precursors. This is followed by the installation of the 1,4-thiazine-dioxide ring by reaction of the benzo[c]chromene quinone with hypotaurine.
New and less known Orthoptera (Insecta) from the island of Socotra (Yemen)

A list of nine species of Orthoptera collected on Socotra is reported. Three of them were previously unrecorded on the island (Trigonidium cicindeloides, Paratettix subpustulatus and Acrotylus insubricus) and one (Ochrilidia socotrae n.sp.) was undescribed. Further systematic notes on Glomeremus pileatus, G. mediopictus, Pyrgomorpha conica tereticornis, Acrotylus incarnatus and Sphingonotus insularis are included. The East African Acrotylus meruensis, previously considered synonym of A. incarnatus, is proposed as a valid species, distinct from the latter.

Suomalaisen väestön yleisimpiä pitkäaikaissairauksia ovat perinteisesti olleet erilaiset sydän- ja verisuonisairaudet. Diabeteksen esiintyvyys on voimakkaassa kasvussa, jonka vuoksi siitä on tullut myös yksi maamme yleisimmistä pitkäaikaissairauksista. Yhdessä nämä sairaudet ovat edesauttaneet erilaisten munuaissairauksien yleistymistä. Myös ikääntymisen on nähty olevan yhteydessä munuaissairauksien lisääntymiseen. Tässä pro gradu- tutkielmassa mielenkiinto kohdistettiin kroonista munuaisten vajaatoimintaa sairastaviin yksilöihin.
