Decay estimates for time-fractional and other non-local in time subdiffusion equations in R^d

2016

We prove optimal estimates for the decay in time of solutions to a rather general class of non-local in time subdiffusion equations in R d . An important special case is the timefractional diffusion equation, which has seen much interest during the last years, mostly due to its applications in the modeling of anomalous diffusion processes. We follow three different approaches and techniques to study this particular case: (A) estimates based on the fundamental solution and Young’s inequality, (B) Fourier multiplier methods, and (C) the energy method. It turns out that the decay behaviour is markedly different from the heat equation case, in particular there occurs a critical dimension phenom…

L’oppidum arverne de Gondole (Le Cendre, Puy-de-Dôme).Topographie de l’occupation protohistorique (La Tène D2) et fouille du quartier artisanal : un …

2009

Of the three arverni oppida situated in the southern part of the Clermont-Ferrand basin, Gondole isthe least known to the general public and to the scientific communities. Unlike her sister sites, Corentand Gergovie, detailed surveys of Gondole have only recently begun, mainly because Gondole lay undiscovered until the early 1990’s. The rescue archaeology trial trenching carried out between 2002 and 2005 led to the discovery of thefamous horses and human burial, and marked the beginning of the archaeological research aroundthis site. An open-area excavation conducted outside the Late Iron Age fortification has permittedpartial examination of the defenses (ditch) and detailed analysis of an …

Study on the financial performance of companies operating in the pharmaceutical industry in romania

2016

Abstract The study aims at determining the financial performance of companies in the pharmaceutical industry between 2009 and 2014 by means of the indicator of the financial return rate, using multiple linear regressions as research method. By analysing the evolution of the share of companies in the pharmaceutical industry based on the trend of the financial rate of return, we can estimate that the number of entities that resort to supporting the financial activities from loans and liabilities is growing in the period under analysis. This is due mainly to the liquidity crisis faced by entities, as a result of the high recovery duration of debts. Also, using the multiple linear regression we…

Multiple positive normalized solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger systems

2018

We consider the existence of multiple positive solutions to the nonlinear Schr\"odinger systems sets on $H^1(\mathbb{R}^N) \times H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$, \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} -\Delta u_1 &= \lambda_1 u_1 + \mu_1 |u_1|^{p_1 -2}u_1 + \beta r_1 |u_1|^{r_1-2} u_1|u_2|^{r_2}, -\Delta u_2 &= \lambda_2 u_2 + \mu_2 |u_2|^{p_2 -2}u_2 + \beta r_2 |u_1|^{r_1} |u_2|^{r_2 -2} u_2, \end{aligned} \right. \] under the constraint \[ \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|u_1|^2 \, dx = a_1,\quad \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|u_2|^2 \, dx = a_2. \] Here $a_1, a_2 >0$ are prescribed, $\mu_1, \mu_2, \beta>0$, and the frequencies $\lambda_1, \lambda_2$ are unknown and will appear as Lagrange multipliers. Two cases are studied, the first …

A comparison of different methods for speleothem age modelling

2012

Abstract Speleothems, such as stalagmites and flowstones, can be dated with unprecedented precision in the range of the last 650,000 a by the 230Th/U-method, which is considered as one of their major advantages as climate archives. However, a standard approach for the construction of speleothem age models and the estimation of the corresponding uncertainty has not been established yet. Here we apply five age modelling approaches ( StalAge , OxCal, a finite positive growth rate model and two spline-based models) to a synthetic speleothem growth model and two natural samples. All data sets contain problematic features such as outliers, age inversions, large and abrupt changes in growth rate a…

Hybridization, developmental stability, and functionality of morphological traits in the ground beetle Carabus solieri (Coleoptera, Carabidae).

2006

Correspondance.: stephane.garnier@u-bourgogne.fr; International audience; The assessment of developmental stability in hybrids can provide valuable information in the study of species formation because it allows an evaluation of the degree of incompatibility of genetic systems that control developmental processes. The present study assessed the impact of two hybridization events, assumed to have occurred at different times, on developmental instability in the ground beetle Carabus solieri . Developmental instability was estimated in 678 individuals from 27 populations from the fluctuating asymmetry (FA) levels of four morphological traits: the tibia length of middle and hind legs, which are…
