Optimal Flight Path Determination in Turbulent Air: A Modified EKF Approach

By using the Extended Kalman Filter an accurate path following in turbulent air is performed. The procedure employs simultaneously two dierent EKFs: the rst one estimates disturbances, the second one aords to determine the necessary controls displacements for rejecting those ones. To tune the EKFs an optimization algorithm has been designed to automatically determine Process Noise Covariance and Measurement Noise Covariance matrices. The rst lter, by using instrumental measurements gathered in turbulent air, estimates wind components. The second one obtains command laws able to follow the desired ight path. Response of membrane-bound ATPase of Micrococcus luteus to heat and ultraviolet light.

It is shown that the properties of ATPase (EC 3.6.1.3) of Micrococcus luteus depend only to some extent on the state of the membrane to which it is attached. Its interaction with the membrane appears to be largely controlled by polar forces. It is shown, however, that the UV-sensitivity of the membrane-bound ATPase is also significantly influenced by the state of membrane lipids.

25-hydroxy vitamin D levels in healthy premenopausal women: Association with bone turnover markers and bone mineral density

Abstract Background Vitamin D deficiency is very common in elderly people while there are very few reports on its incidence, determinants and metabolic consequences in young subjects. Results In 608 young healthy premenopausal women participating in the BONTURNO study, levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] below 20 ng/ml were found in almost a third of the women. Its levels were inversely ( P 2 ) and directly with sunlight exposure during the summer time, and latitude: i.e. the higher the latitude over Italy, the higher the 25(OH)D level. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential value of i.v. gadolinium-diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (Gd-DTPA) applied before MRI-guided laser-induced interstitial thermotherapy (LITT) of brain tumors without original enhancement, especially in defining total lesion size during therapy. MRI-guided LITT was performed on two patients with astrocytoma WHO II. For both patients, Gd-DTPA was administered intravenously after a first irradiation period and LITT was continued after pulling back the light guide to coagulate the upper parts of the tumor. Influence of the luminance level on visual performance with a disposable soft cosmetic tinted contact lens.

The purpose of the present work was to study the effect on visual performance of wearing disposable soft tinted contact lenses for cosmetic purposes. Parameters such as contrast sensitivity (Vistech 6000), colour vision (Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue colour test), visual fields (static Goldmann perimetry) and subjective vision (what the wearer feels while wearing the lenses) were studied under different illumination levels in order to check for possible vision losses while wearing these contact lenses at low illumination levels.
