Conversion rate determinants in e-commerce websites. What about moderation effects?

Online retailers invest significant resource to improve conversion rates, defined as the proportion of website visitors that make a purchase. Using 1,184 observations from six e-commerce websites, this paper aims to analyse conversion rate determinants, also considering moderation effects of seasonality and webpage speed of load. Results show that free shipping and discounts policy have a positive effect on the conversion rate, moderated by seasonality and load speed. These finding could be useful guidelines for e-commerce managers in order to allocate their limited resources to the most relevant factor to increase online sales.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of entrepreneurial orientation and networking capabilities of born global firms in an emerging market on marketing strategy and foreign market performance. Design/methodology/approach Structural equation modeling was used to analyze data from 1,001 internationalized firms in an emerging market and to test seven hypotheses regarding the development of marketing strategy and foreign market performance. Modes of Structure Formation in Doped Discotic Polymers and Low Molar Mass Model Systems

By doping low molar mass or polymeric liquid crystals containing flat disc-like units with electron acceptors one achieves a stabilization of columnar phases, the induction of a columnar phases in otherwise discotic nematic or even in amorphous systems. Theoretical models based on the assumption of strong electron donator-acceptor (EDA) complex formation are able to account for the structure formation on a molecular level and the thermodynamic properties of the mixtures and the model of diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) for the structure formation on a supermolecular structure.

Operating Modes of Sandwiched Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells

Light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) are promising lighting devices in which the redistribution of ionic charges allows for double electronic carrier injection from air-stable electrodes. Uncertainties about the mode of operation are limiting the progress of these devices. Using fast (with respect to the current growth time) but resolutive electrical measurement techniques, the electronic transport mechanism in state-of-the-art sandwiched devices can be monitored as a function of the operation time. Dispersion managed self-similar parabolic pulses

International audience; We describe the propagation of a parabolic self-similar pulse in an anomalous dispersive nonlinear fibre. Given the capacity of a linearly chirped parabolic pulse to retain its typical shape over a short propagation distance, we introduce the concept of dispersion managed self-similar pulses and outline potential benefits in terms of spectral broadening enhancement.

Theory of parabolic pulse propagation in nonlinear dispersion decreasing optical fiber amplifiers

We obtain an analytical dispersion profile that permits one to reduce pulse propagation in a varying dispersion fiber to the case of an equivalent fiber with constant parameters.

The paper concerns an in-depth study of a special connection for steel structures and the formulation of the related optimal design problem. The connection is called Limited Resistance Rigid Perfectly Plastic Hinge (LRPH) and it represents an innovative device devoted to join steel beam elements of frame structures. The device consists in a sequence of steel cross sections constituted by two parallel flanges with suitably different thickness connected by as many webs with constant and equal thickness. Parabolic pulse generation with active or passive dispersion decreasing optical fibers

International audience; We experimentally demonstrate the possibility to generate parabolic pulses via a single dispersion decreasing optical fiber with normal dispersion. We numerically and experimentally investigate the influence of the dispersion profile, and we show that a hybrid configuration combining dispersion decrease and gain has several benefits on the parabolic generated pulses.

Transform-limited spectral compression by self-phase modulation of amplitude-shaped pulses with negative chirp

2011

International audience; Spectral compression by self-phase modulation of amplitude- and phase-shaped pulses is demonstrated as superior compared to pulses that have only been phase shaped. We synthesize linearly negatively chirped parabolic pulses, which we send through a nonlinear photonic crystal fiber, in which self-phase modulation compresses the spectrum of the pulses to within 20% of the Fourier transform limit.
