Assessing Effects of Temperature Change on Four Limonium Species from Threatened Mediterranean Salt-Affected Habitats
2018
[EN] Evaluation of tolerance to temperatures in the germination stage is an important tool to foresee the possible effect of global warming. Moreover, establishing germination protocols for endemic and threatened species is most interesting for restoration and management plans that focus on habitat conservation. Seed germination was analysed in four species of the genus Limonium (L. virgatum, L. narbonense, L. girardianum and L. santapolense) growing in two saline habitats on the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. The study aim was to compare responses of seed germination to different temperature regimes. Seeds were collected in two protected areas, `L¿Albufera de Valencia¿ (province o…
In L. coralliforme, L. dolcheri, L. florentinum, L. tibulatium e L. ursanum sono state osservate combinazioni autofertili. Non si sono verificat…
Typification of <em>Statice dichotoma</em> Cav. (Plumbaginaceae)
2013
A lectotype and an epitype are here designated for Statice dichotoma Cav. (Plumbaginaceae), an endemic taxon from the central part of the Iberian Peninsula, which is currently named Limonium dichotomum (Cav.) Kuntze
Plumbaginaceae – P. 131 in: GREUTER W., RAAB-STRAUBE VON E. (EDS.), Euro+Med Notulae, 5.
2011
6 new combiantions in Limonium are here proposed. A name is lectotypified.

Limonium poimenum (Plumbaginaceae), a new chasmophyte species from Sicily
2014
Limonium poimenum is here proposed as a new species for Science. It is a very peculiar and extremely localized species, growing on a calcareous mountain of NW Sicily (southern Italy), where it grows on rupestrian places together with many other rare chasmophytic endemics. Iconography, morphological features, ecology and conservation status are provided, as well as a morphological comparison with L. todaroanum.
<i>Limonium vigoi (Plumbaginaceae)</i>, a new tetraploid species from the Northeast of the Iberian Península
1998
SAEZ, L., A. CURCO & J.A. ROSSELLO (1998). Limonium vigoi (Plumbaginaceae), a new tetraploid species from the Northeast of the Iberian Peninsula. Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid 56(2): 269-278. A new tetraploid agamic species, Limonium vigoi, is described from coastal populations of the Northeast of the Spain (Ebro delta). The new species is related, on morphological grounds, to L. girardianum (Guss.) Fourr. and L. grosii L. Llorens, from which it could be easily discriminated by its retuse leaves, the basal ones usually withered at anthesis, the very short (or even absent) leaf apiculum, the denser and longer (up to 0.7 mm) hairs of the calyx tube and the deeper colour of the corolla. In addition…
Stomatal anatomy coordinates leaf size with Rubisco kinetics in the Balearic Limonium
2019
Abstract Trait integration arises through both selection on functional coordination and shared developmental pathways. Different anatomical components must both work well and develop together to generate individuals with the appropriate physiology to survive and reproduce in their environment. In this study, we used a common garden experiment and Bayesian multilevel models to test whether stomatal anatomy coordinates leaf gas exchange, Rubisco kinetics, and leaf size across 10 closely related species of Limonium from the Balearic Islands. The results indicate that the anatomical determinants of maximum stomatal conductance, stomatal density and size, were functionally coordinated with Rubis…
On the status of <i>Statice dianiae</i> Pau (<i>Plumbaginaceae</i>)
1997
An apomictic Limonium with a single pollen-stigma combination (B type), Limonium interjectum , is proposed as a new species to replace the invalid name Statice dianiae Pau. The new species has a restricted distribution on the sea costs of eastern Spain (Alicante Province). It shows a striking morphological similarity to L. virgatum (Willd.) Fourr. and L. girardianum (Guss.) Girard; on this basis it is suggested that L. interjectum is a hybrid derived from the two species.
Estudio de los taxa afines a Limonium vulgare Miller de marismas de Portugal Continental
2012
Master de Biodiversidad: Conservacion y evolucion - Universitat de Valencia. Facultat de Ciencies Biologiques / Instituto Superior de Agronomia The genus Limonium Miller is a highly complex taxonomic group and a large number of micro-species has been described as a result of their reproductive strategies, sexual and/or apomixis. In Portugal, there are few and old studies on Limonium species, although the country has exceptional conditions for their presence, given that they inhabit rocky cliffs, beaches and salt-marshes. This study was intended to clarify the identity of ambiguous specimens related to taxon Limonium vulgare Miller, typical in the salt-marshes of Continental Portugal. We per…
