One of the most recent and promising developments in radiotherapy dosimetry was the introduction of 3D radiationsensitive gels. These gels present tissue equivalent composition and density, so they also serve as phantoms, and their response is largely independent of radiation quality and dose rate. Some gels are infused with ferrous sulfate and rely on the radiation-induced oxidation of ferrous ions to ferric ions (Fricke-gel). H$^{-}$ extraction systems for CERN’s Linac4 H$^{-}$ ion source

Linac4 is a 160 MeV linear H accelerator at CERN. It is an essential part of the beam luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and will be the primary injector into the chain of circular accelerators. It aims at increasing the beam brightness by a factor of 2, when compared to the currently used 50 MeV linear proton accelerator, Linac2. Linac4’s ion source is a cesiated RF-plasma H ion source. Influència de la qualitat de les relacions interpersonals en el context laboral sobre la “síndrome d’esgotament professional o del cremat” (burnout).

L'objectiu d'aquest estudi és analitzar els nivells de la síndrome d'esgotament professional (SEP) (burnout) en una mostra de policies municipals, i avaluar la influència que els conflictes interpersonals amb els ciutadans, juntament amb el suport social a la feina del supervisor i dels companys, tenen sobre les dimensions de la SEP i sobre la inclinació a l'absentisme. La mostra de l'estudi està formada per 149 policies municipals. La SEP es va avaluar amb el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Els resultats obtinguts mitjançant anàlisi de regressió stepwise van indicar que la freqüència de conflictes interpersonals amb els ciutadans era un predictor significatiu de les tres dimensions del MB…

Experimental investigations of the hypernucleus $_Λ^4$H

International audience; Negatively charged pions from two-body decays of stopped _Lambda^4H hypernuclei were studied in 2012 at the Mainz Microtron MAMI, Germany. The momenta of the decay-pions were measured with unprecedented precision by using high-resolution magnetic spectrometers. A challenge of the experiment was the tagging of kaons from associated K^+∧ production off a Be target at very forward angles. Phenol compounds as a New Materials for EPR dosimetry in radiation therapy

Among the various dosimetric techniques used for characterizing the radiation beams used in radiation therapy, the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) arouses increasing interest for applications in various therapy procedures. When a compound is irradiated with ionizing radiations free radicals are produced and their concentration is proportional to the absorbed dose. This allows for dosi-metric measurements through EPR technique which is able to quantitatively de-termine the radical concentration. The Phylogeny of Linum and Linaceae Subfamily Linoideae, with Implications for Their Systematics, Biogeography, and Evolution of Heterostyly

The genus Linum consists of over 180 species, the most famous being L. usitatissimum, the source of linen and linseed oil. The eight genera of Linaceae subf. Linoideae, of which Linum is the largest, exhibit a complex biogeographic distribution, inhabiting all continents except Antarctica. Numerous species in Linoideae are heterostylous, but the ancestral breeding system of the group has not been determined. We present phylogenetic analyses of 44 species representing all eight genera of subf. Monte Carlo simulations of high-energy electron beams : model validation and dose calculations

Komponenttisäteilytykseen valjastetusta Varian Clinac 2100 C/D -lineaarikiihdyttimestä luotiin Monte Carlo -menetelmiä hyödyntävä simulaatiomalli. Malli luotiin aineen ja säteilyn vuorovaikutuksien laskennalliseen mallintamiseen tarkoitettua Geant4 -ohjelmointityökalupakettia käyttäen. Mallin kyky ennustaa mittaustuloksia kiihdyttimen tuottamasta 20 MeV:in elektronisuihkusta todennettiin laskettuja ja mitattuja tuloksia vertailemalla, ja mallin jatkokehityksen kannalta tärkeimmät toimenpiteet määriteltiin.
