Multiple food research studies have shown that the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) are frequently found in processed cocoa products and chocolate. In a present study a method based on dopant-assisted atmospheric pressure photoionisation (DA-APPI) combined with a liquid chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometer (HPLC-HRMS) for high-sensitivity analysis of four EU marker PAHs in dark chocolate samples was developed and fully validated according to the performance criteria set in EU guidelines. One of the central tasks of investigation of dynamical systems is the problem of analysis of the steady (limiting) behavior of the system after the completion of transient processes, i.e., the problem of localization and analysis of attractors (bounded sets of states of the system to which the system tends after transient processes from close initial states). Analytical-numerical methods for investigation of hidden oscillations in nonlinear control systems

The method of harmonic linearization, numerical methods, and the applied bifurcation the- ory together discover new opportunities for analysis of oscillations of control systems. In the present survey analytical-numerical algorithms for hidden oscillation localization are discussed. Examples of hidden attrac- tor localization in Chua's circuit and counterexamples construction to Aizerman's conjecture and Kalman's conjecture are considered.

Coherence resonance in Bonhoeffer-Van der Pol circuit

International audience; A nonlinear electronic circuit simulating the neuronal activity in a noisy environment is proposed. This electronic circuit is exactly ruled by the set of Bonhoeffer-Van Der Pol equations and is excited with a Gaussian noise. Without external deterministic stimuli, it is shown that the circuit exhibits the so-called 'coherence resonance' phenomenon.

Unveiling Electronic Transitions in Three Novel Chiral Azo-Compounds Using Linear and Nonlinear Circular Dichroism: A Theoretical−Experimental Study

Herein, we report on the experimental and theoretically study of the linear absorption, electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra, as well as the two-photon absorption circular-linear dichroism measurements of three different chiral azo derivatives in dimethylsulfoxide solution. Using potential energy surfaces and frontier orbital analysis, we established the most stable conformation for each molecule and elucidated their different electronic transitions. Glucagon fibril polymorphism reflects differences in protofilament backbone structure

Amyloid fibrils formed by the 29-residue peptide hormone glucagon at different concentrations have strikingly different morphologies when observed by transmission electron microscopy. Fibrils formed at low concentration (0.25 mg/mL) consist of two or more protofilaments with a regular twist, while fibrils at high concentration (8 mg/mL) consist of two straight protofilaments. Element-specific magnetic properties of Co2(Mn1−xFex)Si films probed by x-ray magnetic circular/linear dichroism

Element-specific magnetic properties of epitaxial Co${}_{2}$Fe${}_{x}$Mn${}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}$Si/MgO(100) Heusler films prepared by laser ablation are measured by circular dichroism in x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XMCD). Surface and bulk magnetization of the 100-nm-thick films are equal as tested by comparing the total electron yield and transmission measurements and follow the generalized Slater-Pauling rule. For Co${}_{2}$FeSi, the large magnetization of 6 ${\ensuremath{\mu}}_{B}$ per formula unit indicates half-metallic behavior. The dependence of circular dichroism in photoemission on the optical properties of Cs monolayers on Pt(111)

We report on the dependence of dichroic photoemission excited by circularly polarised light on the angle of photon incidence. We measured the difference in the angle-resolved photoemission intensities from Cs 5p semi-core levels excited by photons of opposite helicity, which is known as CDAD. We found that the dependence of the measured differences on the angle of light incidence deviates strongly from the model of CDAD for free atoms, as expected. Using the Fresnel equations and a complex index of refraction, one finds that not only the third component but also the second component of the Stokes vector is responsible for the excitation process. Identification of stiffness, dissipation and input parameters of multi degree of freedom civil systems under unmeasured base excitations

A time domain dynamic identification technique based on a statistical moment approach has been formulated for civil systems under base random excitations in the linear state. This technique is based on the use of classically damped models characterized by a mass proportional damping. By applying the Itô stochastic calculus, special algebraic equations that depend on the statistical moments of the response can be obtained. In this paper a time domain output-only Dynamic Identification approach for Civil Structures (DICS) first formulated some years ago is reviewed and presented in a more generalized form.
