Fourth order cascaded Raman shift in As38Se62 chalcogenide suspended core fiber pumped at 1.995 μm

2011

Fourth order cascaded Raman wavelength shift is demonstrated in As 38 Se 62 suspended core fiber using 1995 nm nanosecond source. The measured Raman gain coefficient is∼2×10−11 m/W at 1995 nm. The Raman peaks are reproduced by numerical simulations.

Optical tuning of dielectric nanoantennas for thermo-optically reconfigurable nonlinear metasurfaces

2021

We demonstrate optically tunable control of second-harmonic generation in all-dielectric nanoantennas: by using a control beam that is absorbed by the nanoresonator, we thermo-optically change the refractive index of the radiating element to modulate the amplitude of the second-harmonic signal. For a moderate temperature increase of roughly 40 K, modulation of the efficiency up to 60% is demonstrated; this large tunability of the single meta-atom response paves the way to exciting avenues for reconfigurable homogeneous and heterogeneous metasurfaces.

Thermal expansion, normalized thermo-optic coefficients, and condition for second harmonic generation of a Nd:YAG laser with wide temperature bandwid…

2011

Interferometric determination of thermal expansion and of normalized thermo-optic coefficients of RbTiOPO4 at four laser wavelengths are performed as a function of temperature. A suitable vectorial formalism applied to obtained data allows the establishment of the temperature dependence of refractive indices, and subsequent theoretical analysis enables one to predict that an extremum in the evolution of the phase-matching direction in the (X,Y) plane should occur near 100 °C for type II second harmonic generation of Nd:YAG lasers, with a temperature bandwidth that can be as large as 117 °C for a crystal of 10 mm in length. Such unusual behavior is observed experimentally by recording the co…

Polymer based tuneable photonic crystals

2007

We report on the fabrication and characterization of photonic crystal slab waveguide resonators which contain a nanostructured second-order nonlinear optical polymer. The combination of a photonic crystal resonator realized in a second-order nonlinear optical polymer allowed the detection of electro-optical modulation of light with a sub-1-V sensitivity. Furthermore we report on the synthesis of novel nonlinear optical polymers with large second-order hyperpolarizability and improved glass transition temperature. The polymer slab waveguide is micro patterned by means of electron-beam lithography and reactive ion etching. The photonic crystal slab-based resonator consisted of a square lattic…

Efficient unidirectional polarization-controlled excitation of surface plasmon polaritons

2014

Efficient excitation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) remains one of the most challenging issues in areas of plasmonics related to information communication technologies. In particular, combining high SPP excitation efficiency and acceptance of any polarization of incident light appeared to be impossible to attain due to the polarized nature of SPPs. Here we demonstrate plasmonic couplers that represent arrays of gap SPP resonators producing upon reflection two orthogonal phase gradients in respective linear polarizations of incident radiation. These couplers are thereby capable of efficiently converting incident radiation with arbitrary polarization into SPPs that propagate in orthogon…

Continuous-wave dual-wavelength operation at 1062 and 1338nm in Nd3+:YAl3(BO3)4 and observation of yellow laser light generation at 592nm by their se…

2009

Abstract We report simultaneous oscillation in continuous wave at 1062 and 1337 nm in a Nd 3+ :YAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 nonlinear crystal associated to the infrared laser channels 4 F 3/2  →  4 I 11/2 and 4 F 3/2  →  4 I 13/2 of Nd 3+ . Generation of yellow laser light at 592 nm produced by Type I self-sum-frequency-mixing of both fundamental infrared laser waves is observed under non-optimal phase matching conditions.

Near-infrared spatial solitons in heavy metal oxide A glasses

2007

We demonstrate two-dimensional spatial solitons excited by near-infrared picosecond pulses in Kerr-like heavy metal oxide glasses with a nonlinearity one order of magnitude larger than in fused silica. Solitons were obtained at 820 nm owing to the presence of multiphoton absorption, which prevented catastrophic collapse. © 2007 Optical Society of America.

Broadband Tuning of Four-Wave Mixing Bands Using Photonic Crystal Fibers

2016

We present an experimental study of the shift with temperature of widely-spaced FWM parametric bands generated in an ethanol-inflltrated photonic crystal fiber. We report broadband tuning of 175 nm and over 500 nm for the signal and idler bands, respectively, achieved through the thermo-optic effect. Numerical calculations were carried out and show good agreement with experimental data.
