Schrodinger equation and the quantization of celestial systems
2006
In the present article, we argue that it is possible to generalize Schrodinger equation to describe quantization of celestial systems. While this hypothesis has been described by some authors, including Nottale, here we argue that such a macroquantization was formed by topological superfluid vortice. We also provide derivation of Schrodinger equation from Gross-Pitaevskii-Ginzburg equation, which supports this superfluid dynamics interpretation.
Quasi-continuous-time impurity solver for the dynamical mean-field theory with linear scaling in the inverse temperature
2013
We present an algorithm for solving the self-consistency equations of the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) with high precision and efficiency at low temperatures. In each DMFT iteration, the impurity problem is mapped to an auxiliary Hamiltonian, for which the Green function is computed by combining determinantal quantum Monte Carlo (BSS-QMC) calculations with a multigrid extrapolation procedure. The method is numerically exact, i.e., yields results which are free of significant Trotter errors, but retains the BSS advantage, compared to direct QMC impurity solvers, of linear (instead of cubic) scaling with the inverse temperature. The new algorithm is applied to the half-filled Hubbard mo…

Nuclear structure of97Yin the interacting boson fermion plus broken pair model and the nature of the 3.523 MeV high-spin isomer
1998
Nuclear structure of 97Y is described in the interacting boson fermion plus broken pair model, including quasiproton and quasiproton-two-quasineutron configurations in the basis states. In particular, the yrast bands and the decay of the 27/2- high-spin isomer are accounted for in this approach.
Instabilities of ion motion in a linear Paul trap
2006
Abstract We have investigated the stability properties of a linear radio frequency ion trap with cylindrical electrodes. Inside the region of stability for an ideal trap we found a number of instabilities similar to those experimentally observed in three-dimensional traps. They arise from higher order contributions to the ideal quadrupole trapping potential. The static potential for axial confinement shifts the radial ion oscillation frequencies and leads to additional instabilities.
Magnetic Direct-Write Skyrmion Nanolithography
2020
Magnetic skyrmions are stable spin textures with quasi-particle behavior and attract significant interest in fundamental and applied physics. The metastability of magnetic skyrmions at zero magnetic field is particularly important to enable, for instance, a skyrmion racetrack memory. Here, the results of the nucleation of stable skyrmions and formation of ordered skyrmion lattices by magnetic force microscopy in (Pt/CoFeSiB/W)n multilayers, exploiting the additive effect of the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, are presented. The appropriate conditions under which skyrmion lattices are confined with a dense two-dimensional liquid phase are identified. A crucial parameter to con…
Emergence of long-range phase coherence in nonlocal nonlinear media
2017
The emergence of long range phase coherence among random nonlinear waves is a fascinating effect that characterizes many fundamental phenomena. For instance, the condensation of classical waves [1,2] is an important example of self-organization process that generates lot of interest as a classical analogue of quantum Bose-Einstein condensation. Wave condensation is known to be characterized by the emergence of long-range order and phase-coherence, in the sense that the correlation function of the wave amplitude does not decay at infinity. This property of long range phase coherence is fundamental, for instance for the manifestation of superfluid behaviors, or the generation of Bogoliubov so…
Observation of classical optical wave condensation
2010
We demonstrate the nonlinear condensation of classical optical waves. The condensation is observed directly, as a function of nonlinearity and wave kinetic energy, in a self-defocusing photorefractive crystal.
Generalization of Vinen’s equation including transition to superfluid turbulence
2005
A phenomenological generalization of the well known Vinen equation for the evolution of vortex line density in superfluid counterflow turbulence is proposed. This generalization includes nonlinear production terms in the counterflow velocity and corrections depending on the diameter of the tube. The equation provides a unified framework for the various phenomena (stationary states and transitions) present in counterflow superfluid turbulence: in fact, it is able to describe the laminar regime, the first-order transition from laminar to turbulent TI state, the two turbulent states, the transition from TI to TII turbulent states, and it yields a slower decay of the counterflow turbulence than…
Subdiffractive solitons in bose-einstein condensates
2005
We predict the disappearance of diffraction (the increase of the mass) of Bose-Einstein condensates in counter-moving periodic potentials. We demonstrate subdiffractive solitons (stable droplets of the condensate) in the vicinity of this zero diffraction point.
