The effects of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on the spatio-temporal and temporal dynamics of the ferroin-catalyzed Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction have been studied over a wide surfactant concentration range. For the first time, investigations were performed also for unstirred systems. The presence of SDS in the reaction mixture influences the oscillatory parameters to an extent that significantly depends on the surfactant concentration. The trend of the wave speed v upon the increasing amount of SDS was found to have a maximum at [SDS] = 0.075 mol dm (-3) ( v = 0.071 mm s (-1)), after which the speed decreased to 0.043 mm s (-1) at [SDS] = 0.5 mol dm (-3), which is…

Neutral one-dimensional metal chains consisting of alternating anionic and cationic rhodium complexes.

The metallophilic interactions were investigated within chains of oppositely charged rhodium carbonyl complexes. The cationic [Rh(CO)(2)(L)](+) (L = 2,2'-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline) and anionic [RhCl(2)(CO)(2)](-) units were self-assembled into one dimensional rhodium chains supported by electrostatic interactions. The array of Rh centers in {[Rh(CO)(2)(2,2'-bpy)][RhCl(2)(CO)(2)]}(n) was found to be nearly linear with a Rh···Rh···Rh angle of 170.927(11)° and Rh···Rh distances of 3.3174(5) Å and 3.4116(5) Å. Multiple Objective Analysis of Input-Output Models for Emergency Management

This paper shows how a visual, interactive, dynamic multiple objective linear programming decision support system can effectively be used for analyzing input-output models. We have applied our approach to studying the quantitative effects of economic or political crises to the Finnish economy. Examples of such crises are nuclear power plant accidents, trade embargoes, and international conflicts. An input-output model of the Finnish economy with 17 industries (sectors) is employed. Our system has been implemented on a microcomputer and is being used by the National Board of Economic Defense. Several typical case situations are discussed.

Input-Output Finite-Time Stability of Discrete-Time Impulsive Switched Linear Systems with State Delays

Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00034-013-9610-7 This paper is concerned with the problem of input-output finite-time stability (IO-FTS) for discrete impulsive switched systems with state delays. Sufficient conditions are presented for the existence of IO-FTS for such systems under the cases of certain switching, arbitrary switching, and uncertain switching. All the obtained results are formulated in a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Analysis of insecticides in honey by liquid chromatography–ion trap-mass spectrometry: Comparison of different extraction procedures

The feasibility of different extraction procedures was tested and compared for the determination of 12 organophosphorus and carbamates insecticides in honey samples. Solid-phase microextraction-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry applied to the analysis of insecticides in honey

An approach based on solid-phase microextraction-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME-LC-MS) has been developed for determining 12 insecticides (bromophos ethyl, chlorpyrifos methyl, chlorpyrifos ethyl, diazinon, fenoxycarb, fonofos, phenthoate, phosalone, pirimiphos methyl, profenofos, pyrazophos, and temephos) in honey.
