Perturbed eigenvalue problems for the Robin p-Laplacian plus an indefinite potential
2020
AbstractWe consider a parametric nonlinear Robin problem driven by the negativep-Laplacian plus an indefinite potential. The equation can be thought as a perturbation of the usual eigenvalue problem. We consider the case where the perturbation$$f(z,\cdot )$$f(z,·)is$$(p-1)$$(p-1)-sublinear and then the case where it is$$(p-1)$$(p-1)-superlinear but without satisfying the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition. We establish existence and uniqueness or multiplicity of positive solutions for certain admissible range for the parameter$$\lambda \in {\mathbb {R}}$$λ∈Rwhich we specify exactly in terms of principal eigenvalue of the differential operator.
Superstable cycles for antiferromagnetic Q-state Potts and three-site interaction Ising models on recursive lattices
2013
We consider the superstable cycles of the Q-state Potts (QSP) and the three-site interaction antiferromagnetic Ising (TSAI) models on recursive lattices. The rational mappings describing the models' statistical properties are obtained via the recurrence relation technique. We provide analytical solutions for the superstable cycles of the second order for both models. A particular attention is devoted to the period three window. Here we present an exact result for the third order superstable orbit for the QSP and a numerical solution for the TSAI model. Additionally, we point out a non-trivial connection between bifurcations and superstability: in some regions of parameters a superstable cyc…
Neumann p-Laplacian problems with a reaction term on metric spaces
2020
We use a variational approach to study existence and regularity of solutions for a Neumann p-Laplacian problem with a reaction term on metric spaces equipped with a doubling measure and supporting a Poincare inequality. Trace theorems for functions with bounded variation are applied in the definition of the variational functional and minimizers are shown to satisfy De Giorgi type conditions.
Hurwitz spaces of triple coverings of elliptic curves and moduli spaces of abelian threefolds
2002
We prove that the moduli spaces A_3(D) of polarized abelian threefolds with polarizations of types D=(1,1,2), (1,2,2), (1,1,3) or (1,3,3) are unirational. The result is based on the study of families of simple coverings of elliptic curves of degree 2 or 3 and on the study of the corresponding period mappings associated with holomorphic differentials with trace 0. In particular we prove the unirationality of the Hurwitz space H_{3,A}(Y) which parameterizes simply branched triple coverings of an elliptic curve Y with determinants of the Tschirnhausen modules isomorphic to A^{-1}.
Trace Identities on Diagonal Matrix Algebras
2020
Let Dn be the algebra of n × n diagonal matrices. On such an algebra it is possible to define very many trace functions. The purpose of this paper is to present several results concerning trace identities satisfied by this kind of algebras.
Traces of weighted function spaces: dyadic norms and Whitney extensions
2017
The trace spaces of Sobolev spaces and related fractional smoothness spaces have been an active area of research since the work of Nikolskii, Aronszajn, Slobodetskii, Babich and Gagliardo among others in the 1950's. In this paper we review the literature concerning such results for a variety of weighted smoothness spaces. For this purpose, we present a characterization of the trace spaces (of fractional order of smoothness), based on integral averages on dyadic cubes, which is well adapted to extending functions using the Whitney extension operator.
Possible extensions of the noncommutative integral
2011
In this paper we will discuss the problem of extending a trace σ defined on a dense von Neumann subalgebra \(\mathfrak{M}\) of a topological *-algebra \({\mathfrak{A}}\) to some subspaces of \({\mathfrak{A}}\). In particular, we will prove that extensions of the trace σ that go beyond the space L1(σ) really exist and we will explicitly construct one of these extensions. We will continue the analysis undertaken in Bongiorno et al. (Rocky Mt. J. Math. 40(6):1745–1777, 2010) on the general problem of extending positive linear functionals on a *-algebra.
Multiple solutions for nonlinear nonhomogeneous resonant coercive problems
2018
We consider a nonlinear, nonhomogeneous Dirichlet problem driven by the sum of a \begin{document}$p$\end{document} -Laplacian ( \begin{document}$2 ) and a Laplacian. The reaction term is a Caratheodory function \begin{document}$f(z,x)$\end{document} which is resonant with respect to the principal eigenvalue of ( \begin{document}$-\Delta_p,\, W^{1,p}_0(\Omega)$\end{document} ). Using variational methods combined with truncation and comparison techniques and Morse theory (critical groups) we prove the existence of three nontrivial smooth solutions all with sign information and under three different conditions concerning the behavior of \begin{document}$f(z,\cdot)$\end{document} near zero. Unitary Representations of U q (𝔰𝔩}(2,ℝ)),¶the Modular Double and the Multiparticle q -Deformed¶Toda Chain
2002
The paper deals with the analytic theory of the quantum q-deformed Toda chains; the technique used combines the methods of representation theory and the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method. The key phenomenon which is under scrutiny is the role of the modular duality concept (first discovered by L. Faddeev) in the representation theory of noncompact semisimple quantum groups. Explicit formulae for the Whittaker vectors are presented in terms of the double sine functions and the wave functions of the N-particle q-deformed open Toda chain are given as a multiple integral of the Mellin–Barnes type. For the periodic chain the two dual Baxter equations are derived.
The graded Lie algebra structure of Lie superalgebra deformation theory
1989
We show how Lie superalgebra deformation theory can be treated by graded Lie algebras formalism. Rigidity and integrability theorems are obtained.
