Non-linear analysis of a modified QPSK Costas loop
2019
A Costas loop is one of the classical phase-locked loop based circuits, which demodulates data and recovers carrier from the input signal. The Costas loop is essentially a nonlinear control system and its nonlinear analysis is a challenging task. In this article for a modified QPSK Costas loop we analyze the hold-in, pull-in and lock-in ranges. New procedure for estimation of the lock-in range is considered and compared with previously known approach. peerReviewed
Non-linear analysis of plane steel prestressed truss in fire
2002
The concept of analysis of 2-D static loaded prestressed steel trusses till failure during fire using a modified method of forces is presented. Failure of steel trusses in fire is based on the criterion of stresses. Behaviour of steel is described by non-linear constitutive model (based on hypo-elastic Ramberg-Osgood formula and Dorn creep theory) and Plem proposition (for string). Both models are approximated in calculations by hyperbolic Norton-Bailey rule. Fire simulates thermal force as an action of high temperature that increases linearly up to some level. The complete formulation of this method is illustrated by the algorithm of model parameters identification. Analysis of results for…
A Multi-Objective Design Approach for the c Chart Considering Taguchi Loss Function
2014
The present paper proposes a multi-objective design approach for the c chart, considering in the optimization process of the chart parameters both the statistical and the economic objectives. In particular, the minimization of the hourly total quality related costs is the considered objective to carry out the economic goal, whereas the statistical objective is reached by the minimization the out-of-control average run length of the chart. A mixed integer non-linear constrained mathematical model is formulated to solve the treated multi-objective optimization problem, whereas the Pareto optimal frontier is described by the «-constraint method. In order to show the employment of the proposed …
Exclusive Vector Meson Production at the EIC
2020
We discuss how vector meson production at the future Electron Ion Collider can be used to probe non-linear dynamics in heavy nuclei. Additionally, the potential to study the evolution of proton and nuclear geometries with event-by-event fluctuations is illustrated. nonPeerReviewed

Recovering a variable exponent
2021
We consider an inverse problem of recovering the non-linearity in the one dimensional variable exponent $p(x)$-Laplace equation from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map. The variable exponent can be recovered up to the natural obstruction of rearrangements. The main technique is using the properties of a moment problem after reducing the inverse problem to determining a function from its $L^p$-norms.

Third order nonlinear optical properties of novel TetrathiafulvalenePhenanthroline based dyads
2011
The non-linear optical properties of π-conjugated organic molecules such as TTF and their derivatives have recently gained particular interest due to their extended π-system and the strong electron donating character. The knowledge of the nonlinear optical response, as well as the impact of the charge transfer on the nonlinearity is very important. As such systems can be used in a variety of applications. In this study we investigate the nonlinear absorption of novel tetrathiafulvalene-phenanthroline based dyads by means of the Z-scan technique.
ICA and stochastic volatility models
2016
We consider multivariate time series where each component series is an unknown linear combination of latent mutually independent stationary time series. Multivariate financial time series have often periods of low volatility followed by periods of high volatility. This kind of time series have typically non-Gaussian stationary distributions, and therefore standard independent component analysis (ICA) tools such as fastICA can be used to extract independent component series even though they do not utilize any information on temporal dependence. In this paper we review some ICA methods used in the context of stochastic volatility models. We also suggest their modifications which use nonlinear…
Nonlinear dissipation phenomena in optomechanics
2016
