Verb-Second and (micro)-variation in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties of Northern Italy.

Rhaeto-Romance varieties are the only present-day Romance varieties which exhibit the Verb Second constraint (Benincà 1994, Poletto 2002, Salvi 2010). In this chapter we examine two properties typically ascribed to the Verb Second phenomenon, subject-finite verb inversion and restrictions on the co-occurrence of multiple constituents in the sentence-initial position, in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties spoken in South Tyrol (Province of Bolzano, Northern Italy). Das Konzept von Sprache als Bestandteil interaktionaler Aushandlungsprozesse zur epistemologischen und gnoseologischen Grundlage für den wissenschaftlichen Zugriff zu machen, hat unmittelbare Auswirkungen auf das empirische Vorgehen. Dies soll im Folgenden am „Interview“ verdeutlicht werden. Dazu wird zunächst eine Übersicht darüber gegeben, welche unterschiedlichen Formen von Verständnis seiner Anwendung zugrunde liegen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird anschließend das Interview als “complex social and sociolinguistic event[s]” (Block 2000: 762) beschrieben und am Beispiel von Sprachlernberatungsgesprächen dargelegt.

An adequate description of the reflexive system in Ancient Greek entails a brief overview of the main assumptions on the notion of reflexivity and, more in general, imposes some preliminary remarks on the theoretical framework which forms the background of the argumentation. The primary reflexive strategy in Greek belongs to the pronominal type, although some significant changes occurred throughout the history of the language, which impose a more fine-grained diachronic description.

La presente tesi di dottorato analizza i processi traduttivi nelle lingue segnate, indagando la maniera di (re-)enunciare il senso in traduzione. La riflessione si costruisce come dialogo fra la linguistica delle lingue segnate e la traduttologia, a partire da presupposti teorici comuni a entrambe le discipline benché differentemente declinati, come il concetto di oralità. Lo studio, che intende definirsi come non assimilazionista (così come auspicato da C. Cuxac), tiene conto delle peculiarità proprie delle lingue segnate, fra cui le caratteristiche di multimodalità e multilinearità, e analizza le lingue dei segni sulla base del modèle sémiologique. The paper presents a close reading of The Day of the Owl originating f rom the perspective of semiotic literary theory. It is possible to observe three strategies in the text: enigma, suspense, and dilemma. Whereas the first two cover the unmasking of the truth – following the tradition in crime novels –, the third strategy is particular to the Sciascian contextual crime novel, focused on the semantic instability of values that are the foundation of the social contract. From this starting point, this essay seeks to show that the ‘first novel on Mafia’ is also the first novel that tackles the issue of the Anti-Mafia.
