Atrian natriuretic peptide (ANP)-Presence in human inferior turbinate after botulism toxin type A treatment

Studies demomstrated the ANP-presence in the mucosa of human turbinate, the study aimed to investigate about the ANP-presence of human turbinates of patients after treatment with the Botulinum Toxyn-A(BTX-A) since no data are reported. Results show that in BTX-A treated patients ANP is present in the ciliated and basal cells of the epithelium of tonaca mucosa and some glands;therefore ANP-presence is more intense than in mucosa of untreated patients.

Four unrelated patients with lubs X-linked mental retardation syndrome and different Xq28 duplications

The Lubs X-linked mental retardation syndrome (MRXSL) is caused by small interstitial duplications at distal Xq28 including the MECP2 gene. Here we report on four novel male patients with MRXSL and different Xq28 duplications delineated by microarray-based chromosome analysis. All mothers were healthy carriers of the duplications. Consistent with an earlier report [Bauters et al. (2008); Genome Res 18: 847-858], the distal breakpoints of all four Xq28 duplications were located in regions containing low-copy repeats (LCRs; J, K, and L groups), which may facilitate chromosome breakage and reunion events. Long-term follow-up (42 months) of chronic anal fissure after healing with botulinum toxin.

Abstract Background & Aims: Botulinum toxin is an effective treatment in idiopathic chronic anal fissure, but the long-term outcome after healing is not well documented. We analyzed the long-term outcome of patients in whom an anal fissure had healed after botulinum toxin injection and the factors contributing to recurrence. Methods: Fifty-seven patients who had completely healed 6 months after injection of botulinum toxin were reassessed every 6 months. The follow-up was 42 months in all patients.
