Obsidians of Pantelleria (Strait of Sicily): A Petrographic, Geochemical and Magnetic Study of Known and New Geological Sources

Abstract This paper provides new petrochemical and paleomagnetic data from obsidian sub-sources on the island of Pantelleria, exploited since the Neolithic. Data has been obtained from 14 obsidian samples from 4 locations: Fossa della Pernice (2 sites), Salto la Vecchia and Balata dei Turchi. Here, we aim to better characterize these obsidians using a cross-disciplinary and multi-analytical approach, to further understand their archaeological significance. Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, is located in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea. Archeological evidence suggests an early human occupation starting from the Neolithic period. The island, favored by its volcanic history, was an important crossroads of cultures and commerce exchanges during prehistory up to Greek and Roman dominations. In this study, we present multidisciplinary analysis results on four skeletal remains from the necropolis of Contrada Diana attributed to the Roman period. Tässä artikkelissa esittelen havaintoja etnografisesta väitöskirjatutkimuksestani, jonka aiheena on kielipolitiikka koulutuksen tiloissa Suomessa ja Ruotsissa. Tutkimuksen kenttätyö on tehty kieliparikoulussa Suomessa ja ruotsinsuomalaisessa koulussa Ruotsissa. Kielipolitiikka on erityisessä suhteessa koulutilaan sekä vertauskuvallisesti että konkreettisesti: lainsäädäntö ja kielipolitiikka luovat reunaehdot koulutuksessa käytössä oleville kielille, mutta kielipoliittista tilaa rakennetaan ja myös kyseenalaistetaan koulun kielellisissä käytännöissä. nonPeerReviewed

Kieliparitoiminta suomen- ja ruotsinkielisten yksiköiden välillä voi tarjota mahdollisuuksia monenlaiseen yhteistyöhön ja monikieliseen työskentelyyn. <p>The La Fossa cone of Vulcano Island (Aeolian Archipelago, Italy) is a closed conduit volcano. Today, Vulcano Island is characterized by sulfataric activity, with a large fumarolic field that is mainly located in the summit area. A scanning differential optical absorption spectroscopy instrument designed by the Optical Sensing Group of Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden, was installed in the framework of the European project "Network for Observation of Volcanic and Atmospheric Change", in March 2008. A new contextual analysis is proposed in order to reappraise the well known theatrical images from Lipari. In the wake of the researches made by L. Bernabò Brea and M. Cavalier, the clay masks of comic, satyric and tragic characters and figurines, on one hand, and the “theatrical” vases on the other were reputed to echo or to “illustrate” Greek plays, in the frame of a Dionysian cult. Lastly, A.
