Lipschitz Carnot-Carathéodory Structures and their Limits
2022
AbstractIn this paper we discuss the convergence of distances associated to converging structures of Lipschitz vector fields and continuously varying norms on a smooth manifold. We prove that, under a mild controllability assumption on the limit vector-fields structure, the distances associated to equi-Lipschitz vector-fields structures that converge uniformly on compact subsets, and to norms that converge uniformly on compact subsets, converge locally uniformly to the limit Carnot-Carathéodory distance. In the case in which the limit distance is boundedly compact, we show that the convergence of the distances is uniform on compact sets. We show an example in which the limit distance is not…
Iterative constructions of central conic arcs using non-stationary IFS
2012
Several methods of subdivision exist to build parabola arcs or circle arcs in the usual Euclidean affine plane. Using a compass and a ruler, it is possible to construct, from three weighted points, circles arcs in the affine space without projective considerations. This construction is based on rational quadratic Bézier curve properties. However, when the conic is an ellipse or a hyperbola, the weight computation is relatively hard. As the equation of a conic is $\qaff(x,y)=1$, where $\qaff$ is a quadratic form, one can use the pseudo-metric associed to $\qaff$ in the affine plane and then, the conic geometry is also handled as an Euclidean circle. At each step of the iterative algorithm, t…
The Ellipsoid in Orthogonal Axonometric: Homology Application
2012
You've long heard about ellipsoid, both from a mathematical analysis that under the geometric representative profile. However, so far no one has ever affronted the problem from the point of the application of descriptive geometry with homology. The use of homology, in fact, can make it extremely simplified and actual use of geometric tools giving the user a graphical mastery of the outcome that would otherwise be dismissed even with the use of innovative technologies of representation. Through the analysis of the proposed methodology, you can use to identify the strengths, the corresponding approvals now required between reality and projection. An ellipsoid is a closed type of quadric surfa…

Magnētiska piliena līdzsvara figūru skaitlisks aprēķins augstfrekvences rotējošā magnētiskā laukā
2016
Darbā tiek apskatīts, kā atrast magnētiska piliena līdzsvara figūras gan konstantā magnētiskā laukā, gan augstfrekvences rotējošā magnētiskā laukā izmantojot enerģijas minimizēšanu. Izmantojot demagnetizācijas koeficientu sakarības trīsasu elipsoīdam tiek iegūta izteiksme piliena enerģijai magnētiskā laukā. Līdzsvara figūru atkarība no magnētiskā lauka un magnētiskā piliena parametriem (magnētiskais Bonda skaitlis, piliena magnētiskā uzņēmība) tiek aprēķināta veicot enerģijas minimizāciju.
2020
Disasters are hardly ever unequivocal. Any attempt to sort them out remains a forever open task. A natural part of everyday life in the past, disasters have been reinvented by the modern world as a challenge that essentially needs to be eliminated from public life. Due to the dramatic expansion of humans and human activity, one can hardly call them ‘natural’ anymore. This article focuses on disasters and their significant culture-forming potential, discussing it primarily on the example of the AIDS epidemic. With this new epidemic, the catastrophic vision of history was rekindled and a specific (post-)apocalyptic social climate was created. AIDS, called the plague of the 20th century, reviv…
Asymptotic Hölder regularity for the ellipsoid process
2020
We obtain an asymptotic Hölder estimate for functions satisfying a dynamic programming principle arising from a so-called ellipsoid process. By the ellipsoid process we mean a generalization of the random walk where the next step in the process is taken inside a given space dependent ellipsoid. This stochastic process is related to elliptic equations in non-divergence form with bounded and measurable coefficients, and the regularity estimate is stable as the step size of the process converges to zero. The proof, which requires certain control on the distortion and the measure of the ellipsoids but not continuity assumption, is based on the coupling method.
Critical proofreading of the book "Les derniers jours du siège d'Alésia"
2023
Was there a lunar eclipse that could have influenced the outcome of the Battle of Alesia? This is the argument developed in the book by Alain Deyber and David Romeuf, «Les Derniers Jours du Siège d'Alésia». Having verified the existence of an eclipse on the date given by the authors and based on the latest publications as well as on the scientific consensus, we conduct a critical study on the chronology of the siege and on the ethnological arguments, even ethno-astronomical of the authors.
‘School, family and then hockey!’ Coaches’ views on dual career in ice hockey
2017
Despite the extensive research into coaches’ roles in supporting athletic development and motivation for sport, few studies have examined coaches’ attitudes and practices towards athletes’ dual careers. The present study extends European research into athletes’ dual careers by examining Finnish ice hockey coaches’ attitudes and practices surrounding players’ education. Ten male coaches aged 27–52 participated in semi-structured interviews. The data were analysed with an existential-narrative theoretical framework and with thematic and structural narrative analysis. Three composite vignettes were created entitled ‘supporting athletic development and players in reaching their own goals’, ‘enj…
