Chandra study of the eclipsing M dwarf binary, YY Gem
2012
The eclipsing M dwarf binary system, YY Gem, was observed using Chandra covering 140 ks (2Prot) in total, split into two even exposures separated by 0.76 d (0.94 Prot). The system was extremely active: three energetic flares were observed over the course of these observations. The flaring and non-flaring states of the system are analysed in this paper. The activity level increased between the first and second observations even during the quiescent (non-flaring) phases. An analysis of the dynamics of the X-ray-emitting plasma suggests that both components are significantly active. Contemporaneous Hα spectra also suggest that both components show similar levels of activity. The primary star i…
Moral Attitudes Predict Cheating and Gamesmanship Behaviors Among Competitive Tennis Players
2017
Background: The present study tested Lee et al.’s (2008) model of moral attitudes and cheating behavior in sports in an Italian sample of young tennis players and extended it to predict behavior in actual match play. In the first phase of the study we proposed that moral, competence and status values would predict prosocial and antisocial moral attitudes directly, and indirectly through athletes’ goal orientations. In the second phase, we hypothesized that moral attitudes would directly predict actual cheating behavior observed during match play.\ud \ud Method: Adolescent competitive tennis players (N = 314, 76.75% males, M age = 14.36 years, SD = 1.50) completed measures of values, goal or…
THE INFLUENCE OF THIAMINE IN THE FERMENTATION OF THE WINE YEASTS
2011
Due to the enzymatic equipment, the yeast cell produces alcoholic fermentation by the meaning of a zimazic complex which catalyzes in different stages the redox processes of the carbohydrates, which are able to ferment, ultimately leading to ethanol. The fermentation rate is an exponential function being influenced by the cells concentration in the development environment and the starter cultures of micro-organisms. Most of the yeast strains do ferment some substrates rich in hexosanes and oligoglucides: sucrose, maltose, raffinose, lactose and celobiose. The biomass quantity may be increased in various ways. An important aspect in the increasing of the multiplication rate of the yeast cell…

Käännösten kautta kollektiiviin : tuuliosuuskunnat toimijaverkkoina
2004
Aino Palmroth on tutkinut väitöskirjatyössään osakkeiden myynnillä rahoitettuja tuulivoimaprojekteja Suomessa ja Tanskassa. Tutkimus keskittyy kahteen kansalaisten aloitteesta toteutettuun tuulivoimalahankkeeseen.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN UNEMPLOYMENT AND INFLATION IN POLAND AND THE PHILLIPS CURVE
2018
W części teoretycznej artykułu przedstawiono ewolucję poglądów na temat krzywej Phillipsa. Przybliżono model A. W. Phillipsa z 1958 r., a także liczne rozwinięcia tego modelu autorstwa takich ekonomistów, jak: P. Samuelson, R. Solow, M. Friedman, E. Phelps, R. Lucas, E. Kydland i E. Prescott. Wprowadzenie teoretyczne dopełnia przegląd dotychczasowego dorobku literatury światowej z zakresu weryfikacji empirycznej krzywej Phillipsa. Celem części empirycznej niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie istnienia krzywej Phillipsa w gospodarce polskiej w latach 1990-2010. Sprawdzono kierunek i siłę związku stóp inflacji i bezrobocia na podstawie danych miesięcznych, kwartalnych, półrocznych i rocznych. W bad…
Lexical Substitution and Paraphasia in Advanced Dementia of the Alzheimer Type
2017
Abstract The paper presents the case study of lexical selection in Alzheimer-type dementia. Lexical substitutions in poem recitation and conversations of a Russian speaker, who suffered Alzheimer-type dementia, were analyzed on the background of the lexical retrieval and slip-of-the-tongue phenomena. The classification of the substitutions is worked out on the basis of the links between a target word and its substitutions. The current context plays an essential role as natural priming for a substitution in a poem recitation. Some words have predisposition to be lost; the units belong to the figurative language or to the category of infrequent lexemes. In conversation, the patient masked fai…
Experiencing life together : a cooperative CLIL course on social psychology
2013
Tämä pro gradu-tutkielmana laadittu materiaalipaketti yhdistää kielen ja sisällön oppimisen content and language integrated learning- eli CLIL-menetelmän avulla. CLIL:n keskeinen ajatus on, että opiskelija oppii kieltä toisen oppiaineen kautta. Autenttisten materiaalien käyttö sekä opiskelijoiden keskinäinen yhteistyö takaavat kielen implisiittisen oppimisen. Lisäksi opettajan tulisi kiinnittää opiskelijoiden huomio myös kielenoppimiseen explisiittisesti. Tukemaan CLIL-menetelmää valittiin yhteistoiminnallinen oppiminen. Se on tarkoin strukturoitu opetusmenetelmä, jossa opiskelijat työskentelevät yhdessä yhteisen tavoitteen saavuttamiseksi. Yhteistoiminnallisia tehtävätyyppejä ja –rakenteit…
Sharing and Other Illusions : Asymmetry in "Moments of Meeting"
2023
This chapter tackles the question of interpersonal understanding from the point of view of so-called “moments of meeting.” Coined by Daniel Stern and his colleagues, this term refers to specific and particularly intense experiential situations, where two (or more) persons attune to each other’s affective experiences, thus “cocreating” an experiential area that exists to these two individuals exclusively—a “shared private world,” as Stern puts it (Stern, 2004). While moments of meeting have attracted a lot of interest in research on psychotherapeutic change, clinical effectivity, and outcome, the usefulness of the concept in nonclinical discussions has been overlooked. The chapter fills in t…
