Optical properties of lithium gallium oxide
2017
Abstract The optical dielectric function tensor of orthorhombic single-crystal LiGaO 2 was determined for polarizations along a , b , and c crystal-axis in the photon energy range from 0.04 eV to 6.5 eV by the generalized spectroscopic ellipsometry. In the far-infrared spectral range from 12.4 meV to 40 meV, the dielectric function was determined from conventional polarized transmittance and polarized reflectance measurements. Lineshape analysis of the dielectric function tensor major components allowed for a determination of the long-wavelength optical phonon characteristics, refractive indices dispersion, and parameters of interband and excitonic optical transitions.
Luminescence of Ce‐doped borate‐oxyfluoride glass ceramics
2007
In the present work we studied the possibility to obtain oxyfluoride glass ceramics based on a lithium and potassium borate glasses with addition of fluorides. Lithium-borate glasses without lanthanum fluoride are transparent up to 275 nm. In samples with LaF3 doped with Ce-activator, an additional absorption at about 300 nm and intense photoluminescence could be observed. Ce-doped potassium-borate glass with addition of fluorides LaF3, LiF and GdF3 was milky and not transparent, an intense photoluminescence has been observed, X-ray diffraction measurements showed a presence of well-pronounced crystalline phases of LiF as well as of GdBO3. Continuous-wave backward frequency doubling in periodically poled lithium niobate
2010
We report on backward second-harmonic-generation in bulk periodically poled congruent lithium niobate with a 3.2 microns period. A tunable continuous-wave Ti:sapphire laser allowed us exciting two resonant quasi-phase-matching orders in the backward configuration. The resonances were also resolved by temperature tuning and interpolated with standard theory to extract relevant information on the sample.
Optical investigation of the OH− groups in the LiNbO3 doped by copper
2019
Doping ions and OH− groups absorption bands spatial profiles were investigated for the case of congruent LiNbO3 single crystal grown by Czochralski technique. Doping was performed after the crystal...
Proton exchange channel waveguides compatible with surface domain engineering in Lithium Niobate crystals
2006
First experiments of proton exchange channel waveguides compatible with electric field surface periodic poling of congruent lithium niobate crystals are addressed. Picosecond nonlinear copropagating QPM-SHG measurements have been carried out on such structures.
Relaxation of electronic excitations in LiNbO3crystals
2001
Transient absorption both in stoichiometric and Mg doped congruent LiNbO was observed after pulsed electron beam excitation. The luminescence spectra and decay kinetics in these materials show different excitonic relaxation possibilities. The dependence on sample stoichiometry is also discussed.
Lithium in metal-poor red giants
2009
AbstractThe lithium abundance was calculated for five metal-poor red giant stars from Li i doublet at 6707 Å by fitting the observed high-resolution spectra with synthetic spectra. The lithium abundance was found to be low in all stars, logϵ(Li) ≤ 1.8, confirming lithium depletion on the red giant and asymptotic giant branch.
Graphene in lithium ion battery cathode materials: A review
2013
Abstract Graphene is a relatively new and promising material, displaying a unique array of physical and chemical properties. Although considered to be especially promising for the use in energy storage applications, graphene has only recently been implemented as an electron conducting additive for lithium ion battery cathode materials. In current studies graphene is found to significantly improve cathode electrochemical performance. As the charge capacity, rate capability and cyclability of lithium ion batteries are still in ever-remaining need of improvement, this article examines the prospects of graphene implementation into lithium ion battery cathodes to meet such demands. The existing …
Nanoconfined mixed Li and Mg borohydrides as materials for solid state hydrogen storage
2012
Abstract Several mixtures of LiBH4 and Mg(BH4)2 borohydrides in different stoichiometric ratios (1:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 0:1), prepared by high energy ball milling, have been investigated with X-ray powder diffraction and thermal programmed desorption (TPD) volumetric analysis to test the dehydrogenation kinetics in correlation with the physical mixture composition. Afterwards mixed and unmixed borohydrides were dispersed on high specific surface area ball milled graphite by means of the solvent infiltration technique. BET and statistical thickness methods were used to characterize the support surface properties, and SEM micrographs gave a better understanding of the preparation techniques. It …
