Ambident PCN Heterocycles: N- and P-Phosphanylation of Lithium 1,3-Benzazaphospholides

2009

Synthetic and structural aspects of the phosphanylation of 1,3-benzazaphospholides 1(Li), ambident benzofused azaphosphacyclopentadienides, are presented. The unusual properties of phospholyl-1,3,2-diazaphospholes inspired us to study the coupling of 1(Li) with chlorodiazaphospholene 2, which led to the N-substituted product 3. Reaction of 1(Li) with chlorodiphenyl- and chlorodicyclohexylphosphane likewise gave N-phosphanylbenzazaphospholes 4 and 5, whereas with the more bulky di-tert-butyl- and di-1-adamantylchlorophosphanes, the diphosphanes 6 and 7 are obtained; in the case of 7 they are isolated as a dimeric LiCl(THF) adduct. Structural information was provided by single-crystal X-ray d…

Asymmetric synthesis of chloroisothreonine derivatives via syn-stereoselective Mannich-type additions across N-sulfinyl-α- chloroimines

2014

Mannich-type reactions of O-Boc glycolic esters across chiral N-sulfinyl-α-chloroaldimines resulted in the efficient and syn-stereoselective synthesis of new γ-chloro-α-hydroxy-β-amino esters (dr > 99:1). The α-coordinating ability of the chlorine atom was of great importance for the diastereoselectivity of the Mannich-type reaction and overruled the chelation of the sulfinyl oxygen with the lithium ion of the incoming E-enolate in the transition state model. These novel chloroisothreonine derivatives proved to be excellent building blocks in asymmetric synthesis of novel syn-β,γ-aziridino-α-hydroxy esters and biologically relevant trans-oxazolidinone carboxylic esters.

The impact of restorative material and ceramic thickness on CAD\CAM endocrowns

2019

Made available in DSpace on 2020-12-12T02:39:33Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2019-01-01 Background: Endocrown restorations as a conservative approach to restore endodontically treated teeth still need an in vitro investigation under fatigue at different materials. This study evaluated the effect of restorative material and restoration thickness on the maximum fracture load of endocrowns subjected to cyclic loading. Material and Methods: Sixty (60) third molar teeth received an endocrown preparation with three different heights of remaining dental tissue (1.5, 3.0 or 4.5 mm). A leucite-based ceramic (LEU) and a lithium disilicate (LD) based ceramic were selected to manuf…

Improvement of neutron sensitivity for lithium formate ESR dosimeters: A Monte Carlo analysis

2023

This work presents the computational analysis of the sensitivity improvements that could be achieved in lithium formate monohydrate (LFM) electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosemeters exposed to neutron beams. Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were performed on LFM pellets exposed to neutron beams with different energy spectra at various depths inside a water phantom. Various computations were carried out by considering different enrichments of 6Li inside the LFM matrix as well as addition of different amounts of gadolinium oxide inside the pellet blend. The energy released per unit mass was calculated with the aim of redicting the increase in dose achievable by the addition of sensitizers in…

Listeria phage and phage tail induction triggered by components of bacterial-growth media (phosphate, LiCl, nalidixic acid and acriflavine)

2015

ABSTRACT The detection of Listeria monocytogenes from food is currently carried out using a double enrichment. For the ISO methodology, this double enrichment is performed using half-Fraser and Fraser broths, in which the overgrowth of L. innocua can occur in samples where both species are present. In this study, we analyzed the induction of phages and phage tails of Listeria spp. in these media and in two brain heart infusion (BHI) broths (BHIM [bioMérieux] and BHIK [Biokar]) to identify putative effectors. It appears that Na 2 HPO 4 at concentrations ranging from 1 to 40 g/liter with an initial pH of 7.5 can induce phage or phage tail production of Listeria spp., especially with 10 g/lite…

Enhanced interfacial lithium storage in nanocomposites of transition metals with LiF and Li2O: Comparison of DFT calculations and experimental studies

2008

Abstract Me/LiX nanocomposites (Me – transition metal and X = F or O) exhibit extra lithium storage, with pseudo-capacitive behavior and high-rate performance. While LiX surface layers or the interfacial core serves as hosts for extra Li, atoms of contacting transition metal serve as electron sinks, depending on Me electronegativity. To verify the mechanism, we have performed comparative DFT-LCAO calculations on the polar Ti|Li|Li2O(111) and non-polar Cu|Li|LiF(001) interfaces with extra Li atoms inserted inside both 2D interfaces, gradually changing their concentration. Theoretical calculations confirm validity of this interfacial model for explanation of the extra storage capacity at low …

Enhanced lithium storage and chemical diffusion in metal-LiF nanocomposites: Experimental and theoretical results

2007

An extra storage of Li has been observed experimentally at low potential in Me/LiF nanocomposites where Me refers to transition metals such as Cu, Co, etc., with a pseudocapacitive behavior characterized by a high rate performance. To understand the mechanistic details of the lithium storage anomaly, we have performed comparative ab initio calculations on the atomic and electronic structure of the nonpolar Cu/ LiF001 and model Li/ LiF001 interfaces. For this aim, we inserted extra Li atoms at several possible sites of the periodic two-dimensional Me/LiF Me= Cu, Li interfaces. The energetically most favorable site for extra Li atom is
