Formation of Layers of Diverse Stoichiometric and Phase Composition in Lithium Tantalate Crystals at Treatment by Vapour Transport Equilibration

2012

Layers from tens to hundreds of microns thick of a different phase composition and stoichiometry are shown to form in lithium tantalate crystals subjected to treatment by vapor transport equilibration in lithium vapour. The 500 microns thick stoichiometric (Li/Ta ≈ 1) layers have ten times lower values of the coercive field compared with congruent lithium tantalate. As electrical measurements suggest, a new polar structure of phase transition at ∼120°C is possibly formed within a thin (30 μm) surface layer of the lithium tantalate sample after vapour transport equilibration treatment.

Dielectric Properties of PMN-PNN+2%Li2O Ferroelectric Ceramics at Low and Infra-Low Frequencies

2014

AbstractA study of dielectric response to weak and strong measuring fields at temperatures of the diffuse phase transition in lead-magnesium niobate—lead-nickel niobate (PMN-PNN) containing an admixture of lithium is reported. A relaxor behaviour of the ceramic compound manifesting itself by a substantial shift of the temperature of dielectric permittivity maximum with field intensity and frequency is detected. Specific features of the dielectric nonlinearity observed at temperatures considerably higher than the temperature of the low-frequency dielectric permittivity maximum are related to extension of the range of phase transition to higher temperatures. This extension is related to forma…

Electrochemical Growth and Physico-Chemical Characterization in Organic Medium of Nb2O5 Thin Films

2008

Investigations about the energetics and the electrical properties of niobium thin film, electrochemically grown, were performed in an organic solution of acetonitrile and lithium perchlorate. The study of the energetics of the Nb2O5/organic solution interface was performed by means of a non-destructive optical technique, photocurrent spectroscopy. By means of this technique, it was possible estimating the value of the flat band potential and locating conduction and valence band. A more cathodic value of flat band potential in respect with acidic solution was found in organic medium. From impedance spectra, the electrical circuit that gives best fitting values is constituted by two resistanc…

UV cathodoluminescence of crystalline α-quartz at low temperatures

2004

Two luminescence bands in the UV range were detected in crystalline a-quartzunder electron beam excitation (6 kV, 3–5mA). One band is situated at 5 eV and could be observed in pure samples. Its intensity increases with cooling below 100 K and undergoes saturation below 40 K alongside a slow growth with the time of irradiation at 9 K. The decay curve of the band at 5 eV contains two components, a fast (o10 ns) and a slow one in the range of 200ms. The photoluminescence band at 5 eV with a similar temperature dependence was found in previously neutron-irradiated crystalline a-quartz. Therefore, the band at 5 eV was attributed to host material defects in both irradiation cases. The creation me…

Multi-line NIR-RGB emission in Nd:LiNbO3 RPE optical waveguides

2007

Simultaneous generation of four spectral emission lines has been achieved in Nd-doped lithium niobate reverse proton exchange optical waveguide cavities. Using a pump at 800 nm, the four lines were found and they are due to lasing at 1.3735 combined with parametric conversion at 0.687, 0.574 and 0.4 mum.

Morphological and optical property study of Li doped ZnO produced by microwave-assisted solvothermal synthesis

2021

Abstract ZnO materials have been at the centre of many studies for decades. Doping of ZnO by lithium atoms is a prospective approach for compensation of n-type conductivity in the unintentionally doped ZnO aimed at obtaining p-type semiconductor. In this study, we have synthesized ZnO rod-like powders doped with lithium ions (0–0.65 atom%) by the new microwave-assisted solvothermal method in order to obtain greater photoluminescence intensity of ZnO emissions in the UV region. The obtained powders contain nanoparticles from 20 nm up to 250 nm depending on Li content. X-ray diffractometry and Raman spectroscopy were employed to characterise the structure of ZnO powders, scanning electron mic…

Homogeneous and inhomogeneous contributions to the luminescence linewidth of point defects in amorphous solids: Quantitative assessment based on time…

2008

The article describes an experimental method that allows to estimate the inhomogeneous and homogeneous linewidths of the photoluminescence band of a point defect in an amorphous solid. We performed low temperature time-resolved luminescence measurements on two defects chosen as model systems for our analysis: extrinsic Oxygen Deficient Centers (ODC(II)) in amorphous silica and F+ 3 centers in crystalline Lithium Fluoride. Measurements evidence that only defects embedded in the amorphous matrix feature a dependence of the radiative decay lifetime on the emission energy and a time dependence of the first moment of the emission band. A theoretical model is developed to link these properties to…

Full Configuration-Interaction Study on the Tetrahedral Li4 Cluster

2008

International audience; The Li4 cluster low lying electronic states were studied. In particular we investigated the tetrahedral geometry at full CI and coupled cluster level, with basis sets of increasing quality. The 5A2 electronic state, characterized by having all the valence electrons unpaired, forming a quite stable no-pair bonding state, was studied in greater detail. In order to compare the energies we also studied the Li4 rhombus singlet ground state. The ability of coupled cluster with perturbative triples to correctly reproduce energy levels in a quasi-degenerate system was validated with respect to the full CI.
