The electronic mechanisms of a model hydride transfer reaction are theoretically studied with ab inito RHF and UHF SCF MO procedures at the 4‐31G basis set level and analytical gradient methods. The model system describes the reduction of cyclopropenyl cation to cyclopropene by the oxidation of lithium hydride to lithium cation. The molecular fragments corresponding to the asymptotic reactive channels characterizing the stepwise mechanisms currently discussed in the literature have been characterized. Acute lithium intoxication may cause serious neurologic and cardiac manifestations, up to the patient's death. Owing to its low molecular weight, relatively small volume of distribution close to that of total body water, and its negligible protein binding, lithium can be efficiently removed by any extracorporeal modality of renal replacement therapy (RRT). Abstract A new 2,2′-bipyridine-based phosphadithiamacrocycle: 3,3′-5-phenyl-2,8-dithia-5-phospha[9]-2,2′-bipyridinophane (L) has been synthesized by reacting 6,6′-bis(bromomethyl)-2,2′-bipyridine and dilithium 3-phenyl-3-phosphapenta-1,5-dithiolate. The phosphoryl derivative: 3,3′-5-oxo-5-phenyl-2,8-dithia-5-phospha[9]-2,2′-bipyridinophane (Lox) synthesized by direct oxidation of L at open atmosphere. Both compounds have been isolated as white solids containing different amounts of LiBr. We report Li measurements from cave-analogue carbonate-precipitation experiments in order to: i) assess the expected isotope fractionation factors applicable to speleothem growth, and ii) contribute to the wider understanding of lithium incorporation in carbonates. The experimental setup closely mimics natural processes (e.g. precipitation driven by CO2 degassing, low ionic strength solution, thin solution film) but within a laboratory setting that allows for controlled growth conditions (temperature, pCO2, drip rate, carbonate saturation index and the composition of the initial solution). Limited previous experience with the mean value total dressing (MVTD) method had shown that MVTD energies for closed shell systems are generally better than CCSD(T) ones compared to FCI. The method, previously published as total dressing 2′(td-2′), is based on the single reference intermediate Hamiltonian theory. It is not a CC method but deals in a great part with the same physical effects that CC methods that incorporate amplitudes of triples such as CCSDT or its CCSDT-1n approaches. Catechol ligands that bear carbonyl functions such as esters or aldehydes in the 3-position (1a–c-H2) form triple-stranded, helicate-type complexes [Li3(1a–c)6Ti2]– with titanium(IV) and the corresponding double-stranded compounds [Li2(1a–c)4B2] with boron(III) in hierarchical, lithium-templatedprocesses. The related 8-hydroxyquinoline ligands 2a,b-H can be used for the formation of similar complexes[Li3(2a,b)6M2]+ with cobalt(II), nickel(II), or zinc(II). Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterised by deposition of a 4 kDa amyloid-beta peptide (Abeta) into senile plaques of the affected brain. Abeta is a proteolytic product of the membrane protein, amyloid precursor protein (APP). An alternative cleavage pathway involves alpha-secretase activity and results in secretion of a 100 kDa non-amyloidogenic APP (sAPPalpha) and therefore a potential reduction in Abeta secretion. We have shown that estrogen induces alpha-cleavage and therefore results in the secretion of sAPPalpha. This secretion is signalled via MAP-kinase and PI-3 kinase signal-transduction pathways. Background As there is no standard method for re-cementing debonded partial ceramic restorations, the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of a non-invasive thermal protocol for cleaning and retreatment, and to study its influence on shear bond strength.
