Bryophytes collected during the 12th “Iter Mediterraneum” (Tunisia, 24 March – 4 April, 2014). First contribution
2015
Part of the bryophytes collected during Iter Mediterraneum XII is listed. Some noteworthy species were found: Dicranella howei, had so far been recorded only doubtfully from Tunisia; Funaria hygrometrica, Grimmia laevigata, Grimmia trichophylla, Imbribryum alpinum, Pogonatum nanum, Rhynchostegium riparioides, Scleropodium touretii, Scorpiurium circinatum, Thamnobryum alopecurum, Timmiella barbuloides, Tortella squarrosa, Tortula muralis and Tortula vahliana, had not been reported from that country for more than half a century.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF BRAZILIAN MUNICIPALITIES FROM THEIMPLEMENTATION OF THE TAX MANAGEMENT MODERNIZATION PROGRAM - PMAT
2015
The Federal Government has made available to Brazilian municipalities the PMAT in order to modernize and strengthen tax administration. Because it is public money, it becomes necessary to implement measures to control the application of the Program investments. The objective of this research is to propose a model of performance evaluation for municipalities that implemented PMAT, which aims to: (i) identify the objectives, characteristics and criteria required by PMAT to enable municipal governments in obtaining resources, (ii) define the criteria needed to make the model structure for evaluating the performance of municipalities from the implementation of PMAT (iii) determine the parameter…
Explaining Internet dependency
2006
PurposeTo analyse key drivers of Internet dependency and its impact on willingness to purchase online.Design/methodology/approachThe applicability of the media dependency scale is tested in the Spanish market. The impact of demographics, Internet exposure, online experience and Internet affinity on Internet dependency is analysed together with behavioural changes deriving from Internet dependency (willingness to purchase online).FindingsData analysis shows that the media dependency scale needs to be adapted to the Spanish market and Spanish Internet users show intermediate levels of Internet dependency. Dependent users are mainly young, highly‐educated, feel Internet affinity and have high …
Seed germination of Thymus richardii subsp. nitidus (Lamiaceae)
2021
The germination ability of the punctual endemic Thymus richardii subsp. nitidus (Lamiaceae) from the Island of Marettimo in W Sicily was studied. Mature seeds were collected in the field. Different experimental conditions were tested and the best methods with optimal germination results were provided. This is the first germination record for this taxon.
A numerical study of the Schumann resonances in Mars with the FDTD method
2007
[1] Natural electromagnetic waves generated near the surface by electrostatic discharges in dust storms (dust devils) or by geological activity could be trapped in the resonant cavity formed by the surface and lower ionosphere of Mars, as it occurs on Earth giving rise to Schumann resonances. The finite difference time-domain technique (FDTD) is applied to model the atmosphere of Mars in order to determine Schumann resonant frequencies, and natural electromagnetic fields at the extremely low frequency range (ELF). A numerical tool is provided to analyze the electrical conductivity profile of the Martian atmosphere, with the aim of obtaining Schumann resonance frequencies and their dependenc…
Viral marketing through e-mail: the link company-consumer
2013
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the antecedents that may determine the opening of e-mails from companies that endeavour to promote their products, and what may motivate individuals to forward such messages to others. Design/methodology/approach – The paper presents exploratory research to approach the nature of the viral process and descriptive research for testing the proposed hypotheses. Findings – The opening of an e-mail is determined by the value that an individual may perceive that the message might contain. Forwarding of the message is determined by its opening, and by the individual's perception about the value of the message it may provide to others, besides the…
Social Acceptance of a Teleoperated Android: Field Study on Elderly’s Engagement with an Embodied Communication Medium in Denmark
2012
We explored the potential of teleoperated android robots, which are embodied telecommunication media with humanlike appearances, and how they affect people in the real world when they are employed to express a telepresence and a sense of 'being there'. In Denmark, our exploratory study focused on the social aspects of Telenoid, a teleoperated android, which might facilitate communication between senior citizens and Telenoid's operator. After applying it to the elderly in their homes, we found that the elderly assumed positive attitudes toward Telenoid, and their positivity and strong attachment to its huggable minimalistic human design were cross-culturally shared in Denmark and Japan. Cont…
Impact of repeating somatic cues on the depth of experiencing for withdrawers and pursuers in emotionally focused couple therapy
2021
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, an experiential modality, views emotion central to therapeutic change. In this exploratory study, we examined therapists' repetition of somatically focused interventions (therapist verbalizing somatic cues, such as facial expressions) and their impact on clients' emotional experiencing in-session. We also assessed difference for withdrawing versus pursuing partners. The sample included 13 EFT therapists who worked with one couple each for a single session. From transcripts we coded therapists' repetition of somatically focused interventions and clients' depth of experiencing pre-and post-intervention. Multilevel modeling demonstrated that a higher number …
Development and validation of a scale to measure caregiver skills in eating disorders
2014
Objective:- The aim of this study was to develop and validate a new questionnaire designed to measure caregiver skills that, in line with the interpersonal component of the cognitive interpersonal maintenance model (Schmidt and Treasure, J Br J Clin Psychol, 45, 343–366, 2006), may be helpful in the support of people with anorexia nervosa (AN). A further aim is to assess whether this scale is sensitive to change following skills-based caregiver interventions. Method:- The Caregiver Skills (CASK) scale was developed by a group of clinicians and caregivers. Preliminary versions of the scale devised for both caregivers and parents were given at baseline and at follow-up after two studies of ca…
The exploratory factor analysis of items: guided analysis based on empirical data and software
2017
