Indexing the Local, State and Global in the Contemporary Linguistic Landscape of a Hungarian town in Slovakia

On the basis of photography and fieldwork, the linguistic landscape (LL) of the central square of Dunajská Streda/ Dunaszerdahely is analyzed. I focus on commercial names, which dominate the LL of the main square. The research site, a town in Slovakia of which population 80 % is Hungarian speaking, is significant, since historical minorities form the majority in very few European towns. The characteristics, functions and meanings of a linguistic landscape are best charted through a combination of methods. Il presente contributo ha l’obiettivo di analizzare il ruolo dello statistico sociale nell’ambito dell’analisi dei fenomeni turistici. In particolare, lo statistico (applicato) usa e crea statistiche in funzione di obiettivi conoscitivi e operativi e, a parte l’estensione evidente delle conoscenze e degli ambiti operativi di un fenomeno come quello turistico, allo stato attuale, il contributo più urgente sul piano operativo sembra essere quello di evidenziare, ai gestori del settore, l’assenza di un adeguato livello statistico dell’informazione, nonché le distorsioni interpretative più evidenti nell’utilizzo delle statistiche esistenti. Effects of contextual variables on strategic investment decision-making styles: An empirical study from Pakistan.

There is a gap in the literature of strategic investment decision making (SIDM) concerning the links between context variables, infrastructure and SIDM practices (or SIDM styles) in developing countries. This research aims to fill that gap. Survey data (N = 128) from the manufacturing companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange was collected via an e-mailed questionnaire and visits to the companies. Data are analyzed with factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results reveal what we call four different SIDM styles (or emphases): managerial power-, financial analysis-, top management-, and strategy-based investing. Joint Subcarrier and Phase Shifts Optimization for RIS-aided Localization-Communication System

Joint localization and communication systems have drawn significant attention due to their high resource utilization. In this paper, we consider a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided simultaneously localization and communication system. We first determine the sum squared position error bound (SPEB) as the localization accuracy metric for the presented localization-communication system. Then, a joint RIS discrete phase shifts design and subcarrier assignment problem is formulated to minimize the SPEB while guaranteeing each user’s achievable data rate requirement. Flat-band superconductivity in strained Dirac materials

We consider superconducting properties of a two-dimensional Dirac material such as graphene under strain that produces a flat band spectrum in the normal state. We show that in the superconducting state, such a model results in a highly increased critical temperature compared to the case without the strain, inhomogenous order parameter with two-peak shaped local density of states and yet a large and almost uniform and isotropic supercurrent. This model could be realized in strained graphene or ultracold atom systems and could be responsible for unusually strong superconductivity observed in some graphite interfaces and certain IV-VI semiconductor heterostructures.
