When trying to account for changes that take place over time in the structure of any organisation, social scientists often use a conceptual framework known as resource dependency theory. This theory assumes that organisations survive only if they are able to react to changes that occur in the world around them in order to obtain the resources they need to stay in operation. Since they have the capacity for independent action, organisations are not passively shaped by their environment; they sometimes are also able to influence it.

The present study explores how football migrants (foreign professional football / soccer players) perceive the adaptation process in Finland. Globalization and legislation have made it easier for football players to work abroad. The amount of football migrants in Finland is increasing each year. The internationalization of Finnish football requires study. Successful adaptation has a positive outcome on a migrant, which will increase the chances of personal, and thus in the case of football, team success. Management Practices and Allocation of Employment: Evidence from Finnish Manufacturing

We analyse variation in the management practices across countries and across regions within a country. For cross-country comparisons we use the Finnish Management and Organizational Practices Survey (FMOP) to calculate a management score for Finnish manufacturing that is compared to corresponding measures obtained from similar data in the US and Germany. Scores measured by unweighted averages of the establishments in these countries show that Finland is only slightly behind the US and on par with those of Germany.
