The spatial structure of the landscape and ecological system of nature protection in the Upper Oder Valley

The study evaluates the spatial structure of the landscape in the Upper Oder valley along a section of about 100 km. It is a part of the valley with the strongest anthropopressure. According to the theory of ecosystem services, one of the functions of the Oder valley landscape is protection of its biodiversity. It is fulfilled by protecting valuable relicts of pristine ecosystems of the valley and by ensuring the function of an ecological corridor. The most important in it are riparian forests and oak-hornbeam forests, meadows, swamps, peatbogs and old river beds. Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is commonly associated with cardiac dysfunction, which may be reflected by abnormal electrocardiograms (ECG) and/or contractility. TBI-related cardiac disorders depend on the type of cerebral injury, the region of brain damage and the severity of the intracranial hypertension. Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is commonly used to reduce intra-cranial hypertension (ICH). Although DC decreases ICH rapidly, its effect on ECG has not been systematically studied. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine whether wisdom is a mediator in the relation-ships between religious meaning system and social support among older adults. According to the theory of gerotranscendence, associations of religiousness and social support are complex and sug- gest the existence of wisdom in their internal structures. Method: The study included 466 persons aged 50–75. Three measures were used: Religious Meaning System Scale (RMSS), Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale (3D-WS) and Berlin Social Support Scales (BSSS). With the aim of deepening our understanding of deep-seated fluids upwelling and mixing in large regional aquifers, we performed a hydrogeochemical study of twenty-two springs in the Contursi area (upper Sele river valley, southern Apennines) by means of the measurements of chemical-physical parameters, major ions, trace elements, and stable and radioactive isotopes.
