The Ghost Leader: An Empirical Study on Narrative Leadership

Studies on leadership too often focus on the leader rather than on leadership. The starting point for this study is the argument that leadership is not equal to the leader as a "real" person but is at least partly costructed in organizational storytelling. This empirical study dissects the construction of leadership in storytelling in terms of typical organisational events, such as the arrival of a new leader, confronting resistance and a leader leaving an organisation. We give an overview of the experimental signatures of nonlinear waves: notably topological and non topological solitons, in specific quasi-one-dimensional devices and condensed matter systems. Non topological solitons can be easily observed and manipulated, on a macroscopic scale, in optical fibers and electrical transmission lines. Topological solitons have been clearly identified as fluxons in Josephson transmission lines and as domain walls in condensed matter systems such as magnetic chains and synthetic polymers. Understanding local adaptation and population differentiation is vital to the success of re-introduction initiatives. As other mammals living on islands, Arabian gazelles (G. arabica) show reduced body size on the Farasan archipelago, which we corroborated in this study through morphometric analyses of skulls. In the light of the steep population decline on the Arabian Peninsula – but stable population development on the archipelago – we tested the potential suitability of Farasan gazelles as a source for re-introductions on the mainland.
