The reduction of pore water pressures is one of the most effective measures that can be taken to stabilise landslides or to improve the stability conditions of marginally stable water-bearing slopes. To this end, draining trenches have been used long since. When deep trenches are needed, the usual conventional construction techniques fail and recourse must be made to secant piles or to adjacent vertical panels built by means of the methods well established for diaphragm walls. However, unbonded materials cannot be used, since the excavation of a panel adjacent to previously built ones will instabilise these latter. Trading off accuracy for efficiency by randomized greedy warping

Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) is a widely used distance measure for time series data mining. Its quadratic complexity requires the application of various techniques (e.g. warping constraints, lower-bounds) for deployment in real-time scenarios. In this paper we propose a randomized greedy warping algorithm for finding similarity between time series instances. We show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the simple greedy approach and also provides very good time series similarity approximation consistently, as compared to DTW. The Bimodal Distribution in Exoplanet Radii: Considering Varying Core Compositions and $\rm H_{2}$ Envelope's Sizes

Several models have been introduced in order to explain the radius distribution in exoplanet radii observed by Fulton et al. (2017) with one peak at $\rm \sim 1.3 R_{\oplus} $ the other at $\rm \sim 2.4 R_{\oplus} $ and the minimum at $\rm \sim 1.75R_{\oplus} $. In this paper we focus on the hypothesis that the exoplanet size distribution is caused by stellar XUV-induced atmospheric loss. We evolve $10^{6}$ synthetic exoplanets by exposing them to XUV irradiation from synthetic ZAMS stars. The crisis of educational finance is not limited to the problem of meeting the obligations of societies to provide some minimum amount of compulsory education for their students. This minimum does not assure the preparation of an appropriately trained labour force in a world that is increasingly technicological and in which a competitive economy requires the remplacement of traditional production processes with others based on sophisticated labour and capital. The rapid growth of post-compulsory systems of education is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for industrialization and economic development.
