Microfinance beyond self-employment: Evidence for firms in Bulgaria

This paper provides new evidence on the impact of microfinance on job creation beyond self-employment. We examine wage-employment effects for a typical program in Eastern Europe with average loan sizes that are considerably above what has been studied so far. We apply propensity score matching extended by a difference-in-differences estimator to panel data from an individual-lending program to firms in Bulgaria. Our results indicate that microcredit has very positive effects on job creation. Participating firms have on average 2.5 (or 33 percent) more employees two years after receiving a microcredit than matched non-participants. Desde esta perspectiva, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo contrastar si dilemas de diferente naturaleza –moral y no moral– difieren, intrinsecamente, en las dimensiones de valencia y activacion –arousal–. Con este fin, se utilizo el Maniqui de Autoevaluacion –Self Assessment Manikin: SAM–. In this study, avarol and derivatives were evaluated in high-throughput keratinocyte culture models using cytokeratin 10 and SKALP/Elafin expression as markers for respectively normal and psoriatic differentiation. Avarol and five of its derivatives (5, 10, 13, 14 and 15) were selected for further study. Only 10, 13, 14 and 15 were able to inhibit keratinocyte cell growth. Esta evaluación no puede centrarse únicamente en evaluar el impacto de los planes, sino que debe realizarse también poniendo el foco en los procesos técnicos en los que se producen bienes materiales y la generación de conocimiento. AbstractThe measurement of intangible resources, intellectual capital, has become a major area of investigation for researchers and practitioners, with increasing concerns for monitoring and valuating this type of capital. In spite of this, the approaches to these issues have not been harmonised, therefore management is currently experiencing real difficulties in the assessment and measurement of intangible resources. In this article we wanted to review the valuation of intangible resources from a theoretical point of view, by highlighting the features of the most important valuation methods established in the literature.
