Validation of a computer-assisted system on classifying lower third molars
2010
Objectives: The present study evaluates the reliability of the Radio Memory® software (Radio Memory; Belo Horizonte, Brasil.) on classifying lower third molars, analyzing intra- and interexaminer agreement of the results. Study Design: An observational, descriptive study of 280 lower third molars was made. The corresponding orthopantomographs were analyzed by two examiners using the Radio Memory® software. The exam was repeated 30 days after the first observation by each examiner. Both intra- and interexaminer agreement were determined using the SPSS v 12.0 software package for Windows (SPSS; Chicago, USA). Results: Intra- and interexaminer agreement was shown for both the Pell and Gregory …
Contributions and limitations of self assessment of competences by higher education graduates
2009
This work presents a continuum of competence. On one extreme of which there is a subtlety of concept of competence. On the other, there are rigorous econometric analyses to find the answer to a critical question: ―to what extent is the assessment of competence reliable? ‖ Quest into the etymology helped us providing a rationale in favour of the preferred use of competence over competency. Moreover, we come to trace its roots in French literature where it was in use long before its emergence in English literature. We found that competences were common among various geopolitical locations and inferred that interest in competence has been internationalised realistically. Both English and Frenc…
L26 The Role Of Occupational Therapy In Huntington's Disease
2014
Background We discuss the role of the occupational therapist working with individuals and families affected by Huntington’s disease. Objectives A research by purposes was carried out through the design and implementation of an intervention program aimed at preventing and alleviating the deterioration caused by the disease through training in daily living activities and cognitive stimulation, and coaching the families through monthly monitoring and annual meetings. Method A literature review using structured databases was conducted to identify studies focusing on Occupational Therapy in Huntington’s disease. An intervention program based on the different types, symptoms and stages of the dis…
A scaling-up strategy supporting the expansion of integrated care: a study protocol
2019
Purpose To ensure that more people will benefit from integrated care initiatives, scaling-up of successful initiatives is the way forward. However, new challenges present themselves as knowledge on how to achieve successful large-scale implementation is scarce. The EU-funded project SCIROCCO uses a step-based scaling-up strategy to explore what to scale-up, and how to scale-up integrated care initiatives by matching the complementary strengths and weaknesses of five European regions involved in integrated care. The purpose of this paper is to describe a multi-method evaluation protocol designed to understand what factors influence the implementation of the SCIROCCO strategy to support the …
Wykorzystanie ram jakości M.J. Epplera do ewaluacji jakości informacji serwisów internetowych PWSZ
2019
The article presents the evaluation of information quality on the websites of the State Higher Vocational Schools (PWSZ) in Poland. The information quality framework proposed by M.J. Eppler was adopted as a diagnostic tool to identify gaps in information quality. The assessment was conducted from the user's perspective. Firstly, the ranking of the PWSZ sites in Poland was created. Secondly, the criteria for the quality of information in the website infrastructure were analysed. The conclusions result in a statement that most websites demonstrate a low level of information quality. The scope of synthetic measures ranges from 60.0% to 90.8% which indicates a wide variation in the information …
Aesthetic perception of single implants placed in the anterior zone. A cross-sectional study
2016
Background: Several aesthetic indexes have been described to assess implant aesthetics. The aim of this study was to compare the aesthetic assessment made by dental professionals and students of single-tooth implants placed in the upper incisors. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional survey study using a subjective questionnaire to assess the aesthetics in 3 implant supported single-tooth cases in the anterior maxilla was performed. The interviewed subjects were divided into 4 groups: dentists with experience in implant treatment, dentists without experience in implants and 3rd and 5th year dental students. The questionnaire consisted of 2 visual analogue scales (VAS) to evaluate aestheti…
Erratum to: Development and validation of the FRAGIRE tool for assessment an older person’s risk for frailty
2016
Background Frailty is highly prevalent in elderly people. While significant progress has been made to understand its pathogenesis process, few validated questionnaire exist to assess the multidimensional concept of frailty and to detect people frail or at risk to become frail. The objectives of this study were to construct and validate a new frailty-screening instrument named Frailty Groupe Iso-Ressource Evaluation (FRAGIRE) that accurately predicts the risk for frailty in older adults. Methods A prospective multicenter recruitment of the elderly patients was undertaken in France. The subjects were classified into financially-helped group (FH, with financial assistance) and non-financially …
Effect of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor on neutropenia and related morbidity induced by myelotoxic chemotherapy.
1990
Abstract purpose: A phase Ib/II clinical study was undertaken to assess the efficacy of recombinant human (rh) granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating (GM-CSF) factor in attenuating neutropenia and associated morbidity caused by high-dose anticancer chemotherapy administered in the presence or absence of autologous bone marrow support. patients and methods: Twenty-two patients with various solid tumors and lymphoid neoplasias were treated with a single daily subcutaneous dose of rh GM-CSF (250/μg/m 2 ) 48 hours after receiving a second cycle of highly myelotoxic chemotherapy for a period of 10 days. Within-subject comparisons on neutropenia-related clinical and laboratory variables were m…
Phase IB study of the EpCAM antibody adecatumumab combined with docetaxel in patients with epcampositive relapsed or refractory advanced-stage breast…
2012
Background: Targeted therapy options in HER2-negative breast cancer are limited. This open-label, multicenter phase IB dose-escalation trial was conducted to determine safety, tolerability, and antitumor activity of a combination of docetaxel (Taxotere) and increasing doses of adecatumumab, a human IgG1 antibody targeting epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), in EpCAM-positive relapsed or primary refractory advanced-stage breast cancer. Patients and methods: Patients pretreated with up to four prior chemotherapy regimens received increasing adecatumumab doses either every 3 weeks (q3w) or weekly (qw) combined with docetaxel (100 mg/m 2 q3w). Primary end points were safety and tolerabil…
