Monthly precipitation and runoff series of Begura de Salma River (Mallorca, Spain): January 2015-October 2018

Here we provide the data set obtained as described in detail in Estrany et al. (2020, doi:10.5194/nhess-2019-304); a brief description is presented below. A hydrometric gauging station is located where the Begura de Salma River enters Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, a village located in the northeastern part of Mallorca island (Spain). The station was built by the water authority in the 1970s. After years of abandonment, in 2015 the MEDhyCON Research Group installed within the gauge house a Hobo Water Level U20L-04, which measures the water stage by 1-minute readings, accumulating 15-minute average values. Efficiency of Daphnia magna in removal of green microalgae cultivated in Nordic recirculating aquaculture system wastewater

The increase of global aquaculture production has boosted the development of recirculating aquaculture systems not only because they reduce water use but also provide opportunities for waste management and the use of released nutrients. The dissolved nutrients can be efficiently removed from recirculating aquaculture system wastewater by microalgae, and microalgae can be harvested from the wastewater with low costs by zooplankton such as Daphnia. Vegetation of screes of the montane and colline zones in the Pamir-Alai Mts in Tajikistan (Middle Asia)

This paper is the continuation of a survey of the scree vegetation in alpine landscapes of western Pamir-Alai Mts in Tajikistan. In total, 105 phytosociological relevés were collected in the colline and montane belt in 2012‒2014, applying the Braun-Blanquet method. Phytocoenoses inhabiting mobile or fairly stabilised screes of different sizes of rock particles in the montane and colline zone are herein described. A hierarchical syntaxonomic synopsis of scree communities in the western Pamir Alai Mts is provided. Drainage inlets efficiency and its impact on pluvial flooding hazard evaluation uncertainty

Flooding events in urban areas occur quite frequently as a consequence of rain events of lower intensity than the design one, even in case of correct network dimensioning. Inlets are in those cases the critical nodes, and efficient drainage is only ensured when care is taken on their appropriate design and positioning within the pluvial flood-prone areas. The River Platani, situated in the western side of Sicily, is one of the greatest rivers of the island. It runs for about 103 Km and the basin extends to about 1,784.9 Km. It rises near Santo Stefano Quisquina (Ag); the river flows to Capo Bianco (Ag) ends in the Mediterranean Sea. The morphology of the basin is predominantly characterized by rises of modest entities with slopes sweet or calanques. Selection of spawning substratum by European river lampreys (Lampetra fluviatilis) in experimental tanks

The selection of spawning substratum by the river lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis) was studied in two experimental tanks with different flow conditions. In both tanks, four gravel sizes mixed with 15% sand were available to the test animals. In the tank with the lower current speed, lampreys selected in favour of the finest (2–8 mm) gravel size available against gravel sizes 4–20 mm and 8–40 mm.
