In this paper we propose a methodology to assess the syntax complexity of a sentence representing it as sequence of parts-of-speech and comparing Recurrent Neural Networks and Support Vector Machine. We have carried out experiments in English language which are compared with previous results obtained for the Italian one.

Nauka pisania w języku obcym a stymulowanie rozwoju kompetencji lingwistycznych: gramatycznych i leksykalnych

W artykule przedstawiono alternatywny sposób pracy nad umiejętnością pisania w języku obcym, ukierunkowany nie tylko na czynne przyswojenie wzorców tekstowych właściwych dla danej społeczności językowo-kulturowej oraz uaktywnianie struktur językowych (gramatycznych, leksykalnych), ale także na doskonalenie kompetencji lingwistycznej. Punkt wyjścia stanowiło założenie, że analiza tekstów pisanych w języku obcym pozwala rozpoznać problemy ich autorów z przyswojeniem systemu leksykalnego i gramatycznego danego języka, nie tylko niepoprawne stosowanie struktur i form gramatycznych (co świadczy o ich nieopanowaniu), ale i brak w tekstach konstrukcji i form, którymi uczący powinien już posługiwać…

A Navigation and Augmented Reality System for Visually Impaired People

In recent years, we have assisted with an impressive advance in augmented reality systems and computer vision algorithms, based on image processing and artificial intelligence. Thanks to these technologies, mainstream smartphones are able to estimate their own motion in 3D space with high accuracy. In this paper, we exploit such technologies to support the autonomous mobility of people with visual disabilities, identifying pre-defined virtual paths and providing context information, reducing the distance between the digital and real worlds. Presentamos un estudio que persigue la formación de docentes que trabajan con alumnado con necesidades educativas especiales, tanto en contextos de aulas ordinarias como especiales, para el desarrollo de su competencia digital. Se diseña, desarrolla y evalúa un proceso formativo basado en la metodología de los Episodios de Aprendizaje Situado (EAS) y su aplicación a las aulas. Participan maestros españoles e italianos a los que se les administra un cuestionario de autopercepción de competencia digital construido ad hoc. Pēdējo gadu laikā notikusī straujā dziļās mašīnmācīšanās attīstība ir ļāvusi attīstīties arī mašīntulkošanas nozarei. Lai palīdzētu uzņēmējiem apgūt starptautiskos tirgus un ļautu datortehnikas lietotājiem izmantot tehnoloģijas dzimtajā valodā, ir svarīgi attīstīt latviešu valodas mašīntulkošanas tehnoloģijas. Blends of Semiflexible Polymers: Interplay of Nematic Order and Phase Separation

Mixtures of semiflexible polymers with a mismatch in either their persistence lengths or their contour lengths are studied by Density Functional Theory and Molecular Dynamics simulation. Considering lyotropic solutions under good solvent conditions, the mole fraction and pressure is systematically varied for several cases of bending stiffness κ (the normalized persistence length) and chain length N. For binary mixtures with different chain length (i.e., NA=16, NB=32 or 64) but the same stiffness, isotropic-nematic phase coexistence is studied. Technical and economical comparison between NdFeB and hard ferrites linear electrical generators from sea waves

In this paper the authors perform a technical-economic comparison of two different Tubular Permanent Magnet Linear Machines for sea waves generation by using finite elements analysis. The first configuration includes ferrite rings while the second configuration includes neodymium-iron-boron rings. In order to compare the two types in economic and technical terms, a detailed analysis of the main figures of merit of the two configurations has been carried out. In particular, significant data such as flux distribution, rated voltage and current, axial force, electric power, realization cost and maintenance cost have been compared.
