Effective hydrostatic limits of pressure media for high‐pressure crystallographic studies

The behavior of a number of commonly used pressure media, including nitrogen, argon, 2-propanol, a 4:1 methanol–ethanol mixture, glycerol and various grades of silicone oil, has been examined by measuring the X-ray diffraction maxima from quartz single crystals loaded in a diamond-anvil cell with each of these pressure media in turn. In all cases, the onset of non-hydrostatic stresses within the medium is detectable as the broadening of the rocking curves of X-ray diffraction peaks from the single crystals. The onset of broadening of the rocking curves of quartz is detected at ∼9.8 GPa in a 4:1 mixture of methanol and ethanol and at ∼4.2 GPa in 2-propanol, essentially at the same pressures …

Structural Characterization of Aurophilic Gold(I) Iodide under High Pressure

[EN] The effects of pressure on the crystal structure of aurophilic tetragonal gold iodide have been studied by means of powder X-ray diffraction up to 13.5 GPa. We found evidence of the onset of a phase transition at 1.5 GPa that is more significant from 3.8 GPa. The low- and high-pressure phases coexist up to 10.7 GPa. Beyond 10.7 GPa, an irreversible process of amorphization takes place. We determined the axial and bulk compressibility of the ambient-pressure tetragonal phase of gold iodide up to 3.3 GPa. A dynamic panel study on digitalization and firm's agility: What drives agility in advanced economies 2009–2018

Abstract Firm agility today is not a factor of competitiveness or success but a survival instrument on the market. Disruptive innovations and technological advancement, together with digitalization, change the role of firm agility. We show that the link between the national/industry level of digitalization and firm agility is statistically robust and essential. Time-resolved fluorescence and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies were used to investigate the lateral organization of lipids in compositionally uniform and fully equilibrated 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol (POPC/CHOL) liposomes prepared by a recently devised low-temperature trapping method. Post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is the dermal sequel of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and occurs after apparent cure or alongside with VL. It is confined to South Asia (India, Nepal and Bangladesh) and East Africa (mainly Sudan), the incidence being 5-10% and 50-60% respectively. In South Asia, as the transmission of VL is anthroponotic, PKDL patients are the proposed disease reservoir, thus assuming epidemiological significance, its eradication being linked to the control of leishmaniasis. The polymerization of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone in supercritical carbon di- oxide in the presence of ibuprofen as a model drug was investigated as a new one-pot process for the preparation of polymer-based drug delivery systems (DDSs). Abstract Although dissents are not generally encouraged in international arbitration, they are a reality of investment treaty disputes. About one in five cases includes at least one separate or dissenting opinion.
