Abstract Cryogenic carbonate particles (single crystals and aggregates) have recently been recognized as important witnesses of permafrost dynamics, as they can be used to estimate the thickness and timing of development of permafrost. In this study, the petrography and geochemistry of coarse-grained cryogenic aragonite (CGCAr) identified in Zoolithen Cave in NE Bavaria, Germany, are described in detail for the first time. We provide a sequence of carbonate precipitation during freezing, where CGCAr mark the final crystallization phase in freezing water on ice. A new dipluran species, Plusiocampa (Plusiocampa) imereti Sendra & Barjadze sp. nov., from the deep zone in three caves in the Imereti region, Georgia, is described. This new troglobitic Plusiocampa is an addition to four others known Diplura from around the Black Sea region, two Dydimocampa and two Plusiocampa s. str. The present study also provides the first CO1 sequences for the Plusiocampinae taxa and the first molecular data for cave-dwelling Plusiocampa species. Background/aim Breast cancer (BC) may be affected by diabetes and anti-diabetic medication, as well as its therapeutic agents. Low-dose metronomic chemotherapy (LDMC) is an available treatment option in BC. We investigated the impact of insulin on low-dose metronomic vinorelbine and mafosfamide in BC cell lines. Materials and methods Human BC cell lines T-47D, MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, BT-549 and non-tumorigenic breast cell line MCF-10A were exposed to 0.01 μg/ml and 10 μg/ml insulin in combination with low-dose metronomic vinorelbine or mafosfamide. The differentiation of the predominant cell types of the mucosal epithelium of the mammalian gastrointestinal tract is characterized by increasing amounts of an intermediate-sized filament (IF) protein designated cytokeratin (CK) 20 which is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells. Here we report the isolation of the human gene encoding CK 20, its complete nucleotide sequence and the amino acid sequence deduced therefrom that identifies this polypeptide (mol. wt. 48553) as a member of the type I-CK subfamily.
